Official Guide to Smashing Bess

Quick and easy websites:

Make sure you type https:// NOT http:// THE S IS CRITICAL!

Go to one of these sites:

https://cprox.netfirms.com/ - if you get any warnings about invalid certificates, just keep clicking “OK”

https://www.megaproxy.com – doesn’t work for email, you have been warned

Another Quick and Easy Method:

Let’s say you want to go to http://mail.yahoo.com/.  If you type it in like that, Bess will say “non non miseur.”  Instead type http://blahblah@mail.yahoo.com/ .  You can replace the “blahblah” with anything, because whatever website you are connecting to will cut everything out before the @ sign.

Note:  if you use this method you must include http:// when you type the web address.  Otherwise, the computer will think you are sending an email.

Some more advanced methods:

Get a teacher password:

Go to a blocked website for some class assignment.  Ask the teacher to come over and let you in.  After the teacher types in the password, push the stop button.  Use this program (note: only works on PC’s, not Macs)  http://www.codeproject.com/dll/pwdspy/pwdspy_demo.zip and it will tell you what the little *****’s mean where the teacher typed the password.

Note:  This website may make you sign up with your email address, so this method is kind of risky and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Get the numerical IP address of a website:

            http://baremetal.com/cgi-bin/dnsip

Go there, type in the web address you want to go to.  It will give you an IP address.  For example mail.yahoo.com -> 66.163.171.128.  Take the IP address, in this case 66.163.171.128, and enter it into your web browser with nothing else.  No http://, no www, just the IP address.  If Bess has blocked that website, search on google for “dns to ip converter.”  If all else fails and you are in Windows, click on the start menu, go to run, and type in “cmd.”  Then press enter.  At the command prompt, type in “ping mail.yahoo.com” replacing mail.yahoo.com with whatever website you want to go to.  It will flash a bunch of stuff on the screen, but you will probably see an IP address like 22.55.66.77 or something.  Find that, and put it in your web browser.

Use an anonymous SOCKS web-proxy on port 8080:

Search on google for anonymous, public web proxies.  When you find one, open up your web browser settings.  Change its proxy server configuration to the public proxy server.  Note:  I am not being descriptive on this one, because it is very risky and if you don’t already know what I mean, you shouldn’t be trying this method.

Of course, there are other more complicated methods.  But if you would know enough to be reading about them here, you would be able to figure them out for yourself.

Enjoy!  And remember, there is no known protection for a teacher catching you browsing porn in class. :D
