-Steve's Boo Boo
Face Value began to prepare for their U.S. tour by
performing at many new places in May and June. One of
these venues was The Apocalypse. The band encountered
numerous problems on this particular Friday. First
off, the band knew that they would have to play
without their bass player, Josh. Then as the day
pressed on, more problems occurred.
While playing Four Square, Steve ran into Doug Olsen,
and broke his nose. Two hours later he found himself
in the hospital. He had lost a lot of blood, and was
very weak. But Face Value did not give up!!! Steve
rushed home from the hospital, reassuring friends and
family that he would be alright to play as long as he
sat down.
When we arrived at the Apocalypse two hours later, we
found out that they would not be playing for another 3
hours. We all got together and prayed for Steve to
feel up to par and for the band to persevere without
the help of Josh.
As we were moving the equipment onto the stage, we
realized that we had left Steve’s guitar at home.
Fortunately, the guitar player of the band who
performed prior to Face Value was kind enough to loan
Steve a guitar.
The show went on as planned, but with one change.
Steve decided that he would play the show standing up,
even though he was in a great deal of pain. Blood was
pouring out of his nose, so we found him a Kleenex.
The Kleenex did not work out so well, so instead Steve
used an earplug!!!
The band Played old favorites from Never Stray
including “Blown Off,” “Thinking of You,” “Strength,”
and ending the show with “Habitual.” They also
included songs off of their new album (due out
sometime after this summer) entitled There’s Always
the Radio, such as “Buckle Down,” “Better Left Unsaid”
and “Wheaton.”
