This is a lesson to all:

Ensure what calibre your weapon is before firing it!

I had bought 3 Dutch Mannlicher firearms from Springfield Sporters a couple of years ago. On was an carbine in the original 6.5x53R chambering. The other carbine had "7.7" stamped on the receiver and had been rechambered to .303 Brit. An M95 long rifle I had was unmarked, and I had assumed it was 6.5x53R also.

You can see below. I fired one round in it. Was marvelling at the lack of recoil and then realized...

Well. You can see below. I now have a fireformed .303 Brit case (ironically, in 6.5x53R, originally formed from .303 Brit in the first place!)

Inattention to these details can be gravely injurious to the shooter and bystanders. Learn from my Stupidity.

Never Assume!!!
