Preparing Treatments
Tinctures
Place about 1oz
(25g) of crushed parts of your chosen plant in an airtight
container with
1-1 1/3 pints (600 ml) of vodka and seal. Shake the container now
and again. After two weeks strain the alcohol into a dark, glass,
airtight container and store in a cool place. Dosage is usually
5-20 drops taken in water or swallowed neat.
If it is difficult to obtain the plants that you require fresh use 4 oz (100g) of the dried or powdered plant.
Decoctions
Place the herb of your choice and water n a glass, ceramic or eaqrthenware pan (3 teaspoons of fresh herb (1 tsp of dried) per cup of water. (For large quantities use 1 oz (30g) dried herb per pint of water)). Boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Strain off the liquid, leave it to cool and then place it in the fridge. Use within 3 days.
Infusions
Use 1 teaspoon of your chosen herb(s) per cup of infusion required. Place the herb in a teapot and pour on the boiling water (1 cup to each teaspoon of herb). Stir, cover the pot and leave to infuse for 10 minutes. Make fresh every day and use the purest water available.
