Song Of The Furies

17/9/1999

We are Goddesses of vengeance,
Older than those of Olympus.
We demand respect from all gods,
Even Zeus fears our power,
For his is no match for ours.
We are Goddesses of justice,
Dark angels who pursue murderers,
We are there with the dead and dying,
For their tortured souls cry out to us.
As three hideous sisters we enter the dreams of the damned,
Mortals name us, so they might know who to fear:
Alecto: She whose anger is unceasing,
Tisiphone: She who avenges the murderer,
And Megaera: She whose jealousy is unbounded.
We are sisters to Nemesis and we are the daughter of Night,
We are oldest of the old,
We follow those who commit heinous crimes,
For we are unceasing in our quest,
Only Orestes escaped us, by sleeping on hallowed ground.
Under Apollo’s protection, even we could not drag him down to Hades.
And Orestes went free,
Athene named us ‘Eumenides’ to soothe our anger: ‘The Kindly Ones’
And gave us honour in her holy city.
Now though, in this far-flung age, mortal men forget us,
We are mere creatures of myth,
Yet we are personified in guilt,
We are alive within you,
As your conscience we appeal to you.
We are the Avenging Angels who follow those of conscience,
And no one can escape us,
No child of the Gods is exempt,
Unless they face their crimes and us,
Stand tall and face their fears.

Song Of The Shaman

16/9/1999

As a child, I walked among the stars,
The two realms were mine to traverse.
Now though I serve my tribe,
As healer and law-giver,
As she who separates sacred truth from ancient lies.
I speak with spirits and animals alike,
And watch the stars at night.

My soul flies free on incense smoke,
Drifting through all I know,
The doorway lies open for me to pass through,
And seek the wisdom of those I knew.
My gods speak to me in dreams,
And visions sent to me by guides,
At the turning of the ocean’s tides.

I am Oracle, seer and prophetess,
Vehicle of the gods,
Through me, they speak, to their mortal children.
I am the Gateway between the two realms;
Of life and death,
Of which neither are to be feared.
I am Guide of departed souls,
And lead them to the Otherworld.

Song Of The Sibyl (II)

17/9/1999

I am the Sibyl.
I walked with Aeneas in the Underworld,
And guided him through Hades’ realm.
I walked at Troy and foretold its destruction.
I walked at Delphi and prophesised.
I walked in Rome,
And offered my volumes of prophecy to the last great King.
I walked at Cumae and met my fate with Apollo,
To live as many years as these grains of sand I held in my hands.
Yet I am truly immortal,
I have lived a thousand times.
And I still live, in memory, and so I hold the true power.
Memory is greater than any power possessed by gods.
I am the Sibyl.

Song Of The Sirens

21/9/1999

We are the Sirens,
Daughters of the sea and air,
We are of two elements, melded into one.
Do you hear our song, O weary traveller?
The oceans are calm and, from afar, you might see us.
We sing this ancient song, taught to us by the Goddess Thetis,
Lady of the silver ankles.
With it we lure mortal men to the depths below.
But our song is truth and it dooms all those who hear it to realisation.
Which can often be worse than death and despair.
Through the oceans of time we have drifted,
Of myth and magic we are spoken,
As fantasies conjured up by lonely mortal minds.

Hear us call you, O child of the Gods.
Listen to our bewitching words,
Your mind is willing to hear us,
Even though your eyes dismiss us as mere tricks of the light.
We lie in the arms of the ocean,
At one with its movements and participants in its endless dance.
Our feathered wings lift us higher than the strongest bird,
While our veined tails send us through water with ease.
We are ancient, older than even the Gods themselves,
And we wait for you always.
On silent nights you will hear us in the sound of the lapping waves,
As you gaze up at the twinkling stars that tell of ancient stories.
Listen to us . . . .
For we show you reality,
And all that is denied to you will become yours to treasure.

HELP YOU I WILL!
