This is the archived news page. Anything that was on the main page and has become obsolete, or that just doesn't fit there anymore, will be shifted over to here.
4/9/03 - Those of you who watch The Glass House as a substitute for Good News Week will be pleased to note that next week's show features Rhys Muldoon, notable for his fine work on Playschool (as the bearer of the show's first visible tattoo) and during Bad Street Theatre and Million Dollar Riff. Sadly, he performed no mime tonight, but he was in fine form.
Tonight also saw the return of Corinne from holidays, and hence the return of the puns to the introduction. They must be running out of Wil-puns by now, surely?
21/8/03 - Tonight's taping was severely lacking in both a Corinne Grant, and - despite what the Glass House Mailing List said - a Thomas Keneally. Matt Welsh appeared instead, and did a fine job too.
7/8/03 - During the break between the two shows at tonight's taping, a visitor from Darwin asked Wil if The Glass House had any plans to tour the country any time soon. This has been asked before, and unfortunately, money is the biggest issue here. It's not easy to pack up the whole set and transport it and all the cast and crew to another state, as much as they'd like to be able to do it. However, Wil did say that they're likely to do the Melbourne International Comedy Festival again, and also possibly the Adelaide Fringe, if the show continues into 2004, and if they can get the necessary resources.
24/7/03 - If you have friends you're trying to convince to watch the Glass House on a regular basis, make sure you get them to watch the show that goes to air on the first of August. Pinky Beecroft was an excellent and very, very funny guest.
11/7/03 - More good news for taping attendees. The final section of the old stands has been replaced with the brand new comfortable seats. They're still overbooking, though, so some people wound up sitting on the steps and along the front of the stands. Not so comfortable.
The For Holly Concert is only about a week away, so if you haven't got your tickets, get there now. If you can't make it, donate!
27/6/03 - Further news on the Concert for Holly front. Tickets are likely to be available next Monday from the Sydney Opera House, and details of the date and prices are on their website. More promos were filmed last night, and now Andrew Denton and Roy and HG have been added to the line up. It looks like being an absolutely AMAZING night, so get along if you can.
13/6/03 - Two big bits of news today in the update. Firstly, taping attendees, now is the time to celebrate, because the new stands are in! Real seats with real backs and much larger side stands. Very swanky looking new seats, too, and quite comfortable *G* For anyone who has sat through several hours of a taping, laughing a lot while sitting on a hard board with no backrest, this is VERY good news.
In other excellent news, last night several promos were filmed for a charity night, raising funds for Cancer research and dedicated to the memory of producer Ted Robinson's daughter Holly, who passed away recently. Ted has made use of his industry contacts to put together a stellar line up, including Wendy Harmer, Greg Fleet, Jean Kitson, The Wiggles, Billy Thorpe, the Glass House crew and the one, the only, Doug Anthony Allstars. The concert will be on July 19th, at the Sydney Opera House, and while tickets don't appear to be available yet, they should be listed on the Opera House site soon. The money will be going to an excellent cause, so if you can't make the show - which should be spectacular - don't hesitate to make a donation. Cheques or money orders made out to "St Vincent's Hospital" can be sent to:
Fundraising, St Vincent's Hospital
Locked Bag 32
DARLINGHURST NSW 2010
Include a note to specify that your donation is to go to the Department of Medical Oncology Cancer Research. It's a great cause, people. How many of you can say you don't know someone who has had their life affected by cancer?
31/5/03 - Apologies for the late update folks...got home from the taping at 11pm and decided food and sleep were higher priorities, since I had work in the morning. I'd meant to update before the show went to air, but a severe lack of being near a computer made that difficult for me. Guests are up now, though, and I'll get around to a decent update and even some of my photos sooner or later.
15/5/03 - Tonight was the first taping in the new ABC studios at Ultimo. In fact, the first live audience taping EVER in the new studio 22. Those who went will be aware of a new development, because on all of the seats were brand new The Glass House t-shirts! The shirts feature a small Glass House logo, and the slogan "People who live in glass houses should always wear clothes". It wasn't made clear if the shirts will be made available for purchase, but it IS the ABC we're talking about, so they could probably use the money from the merchandise, so keep an eye open and check your local ABC stores.
1/5/03 - Tonight marks the final taping of The Glass House in the ABC's Gore Hill studios. From the next taping onwards, the show will be recorded at the newer ABC studios in Ultimo. They share the building with the Sydney offices and recording studios of their radio stations, including Sydney ABC radio 2BL, Radio National and JJJ (which means Wil is going to spend a fairly large percentage of his day in that building). For those of you who have thought about going to tapings but haven't made it yet, now is your chance, as the new studios are apparently larger, and will have more audience room. They're also a lot easier to find and get to by public transport, being in close proximity to both Central Station and the Railway Square bus stops.
Apologies - Due to Comfest getting in the way a little (it's hard to type when you're drunk, and I've got to go meet people in a minute!) I've only updated the guest lists for the next two shows, and won't be adding anything else until I return to Sydney. I am sorry about this, but come on, I could spend all night on here (standing up, too) trying to update everything on the site to compete with the new site, or I could go get drunk and laugh at comedians. I'll be back when I get home!
2/4/03 - The first of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival tapings was tonight, and it has been announced that the new OFFICIAL website is up and running. However, I went and checked it out at www.abc.net.au/glasshouse and so far it's not working...we'll see how it looks by Friday.
In other news, rumoured guests for the second Melbourne taping include Rich Hall, Adam Hills and Ed Byrne.

21/3/03 - The new series begins TONIGHT! This year they're screening at 10.25pm, after Silent Witness. Don't miss it!
25/11/02 - Congratulations!
The Glass House has been renewed for 2003! Big thank you's go to everyone who emailed, wrote, called or otherwise harassed the people in charge and made sure they knew just how much we wanted to keep the show going.
There is one show left for 2002, to air this coming Friday 29th November, and it's a compilation show, made up of some "best bits" from the past two seasons, and some of the bits they weren't allowed to air at the time, along with some of the headline ideas they never got to use. Once that goes to air, that's it for now, but the Glass House should be back some time around the end of February and the start of March 2003. Keep an eye on the site, an ear on JJJ, and all your remaining sensory organs on the ABC to catch audience calls in the new year.
Hopefully I should have time for a bit of a revamp of the site in the break, so check back regularly to see what's new!
Wow! Thanks to a tiny little link down the bottom of the JJJ Breakfast Home Page, this place has gone NUTS! We've shattered the previous record of hits in a day, getting almost seven times as many hits in one day! So a big thank you to whoever was responsible for that.
BUT, I must make this very clear, we are an UNOFFICIAL site, and do not actually have anything to do with the show. This is just my little fansite dedicated to The Glass House, and if you email the addresses on this site, or reply to the poll, it won't get to the people on the show. Although, they might read the poll responses, if they're bored enough to wander through the site *g*. Just don't email me and expect me to be able to pass things on, as I won't have much more luck than you would *g*.
The New Set - On Friday 26th of July, we were presented with a sudden change to the Glass House set we've all gotten used to. What do you think of it? Should they keep the new perspex boomerang and orange chairs? Do you want to see the green armchairs and mirrored table make a return? Have your say in the new poll...
Don't like the new set? Love the new set? Let the ABC know what you think, visit the Feedback website and make your opinions clear.
Actually, contact them anyway, whether you care about the set or not! *g* Tell the ABC what you think of the show - the feedback can only help.
I WAS urging people to contact the head of ABC TV, Sandra Levy, with your opinions on the new desk, but I have been informed that Richard Fidler, the new Editorial Manager of Comedy (now THERE'S a title) at the ABC, is a better option. So email away, make your voice heard!
The Glass House - Season II
Well, they said it wouldn't happen, they said it couldn't happen, they said it shouldn't happen, but it has. The Glass House is back for a second season in 2002, so a big thank you to everyone who wrote to the ABC or your local papers to make sure everyone knew we wanted the show back.
23/8/02 - Good news! At the 22/8/02 taping, Wil informed us that the show has once again been renewed, this time for a further 7 episodes, taking them right up to the end of this year! So we should get a full 2002 of Glass House-y goodness *g*. Woot! If their (and our) luck continues this way, there could be a 2003 series, too.
27/6/02 - Newsflash! The Glass House has been renewed for another 12 episodes! *cheers* Apparently, there were only four episodes to air (including the 28/6/02 episode) and then they were given the excellent news that the ABC wants them to stick around a bit longer! So keep it up, guys, make your friends watch the show too. If you have a ratings box, or know someone who does, MAKE SURE YOU WATCH! *larfs* And tell the ABC how much you like the show, and they might actually have a chance of coming back for season three! If we're lucky *G*
Update - Thanks to Meli and Quiescence, there are now some screencaps on the picture page!
In case you can't tell, the site now has a poll! I'll be changing the question now and then, so check back regularly to see what the new one is.
