What if Yami Bakura held all 7 Millennium Items? #4--By JE

It was a cold and bitter defeat for Jounouchi. He had lost the first round to Seto Kaiba, in a rather unimpressive way, having put up no resistence. He was crushed, he had failed Yugi and his Grandfather. As he walked down the streets of Domino, pondering his loss, visions of the assult from the Blue Eyes White Dragon cloud his head. He remembers the power of it's blasts when it shot at him, taking his last bit of LP. Jounouchi knew that the Duel round two would begin soon, but that was the last thing gripping his mind.

Jounouchi: Kicks a can as he walks along. "Yugi...I am so sorry. You were there for me when I needed help, but I couldn't help you when you needed it." Jounouchi looks at a puddle of water in the street, seeing his face. He watches as his face changes from himself, to Seto Kaiba. He stares for a moment, clenches his fist and punches the wall of a shop, now leaning on it, tears coming down his cheeks. "I am such trash.... I failed my best friend." Looks up at the sky. " I am such trash."

Elsewhere, Insector Haga prepares for his match against the Cloak. He is wandering around, watching the other Duelists. He can only smirk, feeling he is better than them.

Haga: "Hmph. None of these losers are anywhere near my league. I could easily swat these flys. None of these people will ever be in a tournament against a great Duelist like myself. I almost pity them... almost." Erupts in laughter. He walks down a pathway where he sees a shadowed figure standing before him. He stops in his tracks and adjusts his glasses. "Huh, who's there? How dare you block the path of the great Insector Haga!"

The figure: " I am your opponent Haga. I am known only as the cloak."

Haga: Looks carefully, he sees a figure standing before him and smirks. "Ah, so you are the mysterious cloak. Well it will be nice meeting you in the ring of battle. My bugs are more than ready to stomp you and your pathetic all gray over coat butt." Haga laughs, but his laughter is silenced by the Cloak stepping closer to him.

The Cloak: "Actually Haga there isn't going to be a Duel, there is going to be something diffrent. It is a Game of Darkness." The cloak steps just inches away from Haga and laughs slightly. "If I win Haga, you drop out of the contest."

Haga: "Well I don't have to play your stupid game. I could easily crush you in a Duel." Crosses his arms. "You will have to do better than that if you want to grab my attention."

The Cloak: Reaches inside his cloak and pulls out a stack of cards. He begins flipping thru them. Haga's eyes light up as the Cloak flips thru the cards. Swarms of Locusts, Basic Insect, Hercules Beetle, Man Eater Bug, Plasma Armor and 30 other incredible Bug cards. "Is this motivation enough for you Haga? If you win, not only do I drop out, but all these bugs are yours." He lifts his head and looks at the almost drooling Haga. "Well Insector Haga, is it a deal?"

Haga: Looks at the cloak, smirking and giggling. "Heh heh heh, you know it's a deal. So what do we have to do?"

The Cloak: “Well Haga it is quite simple, we are going to play a game called Trinity. It works like this, we each use our deck of Duel Monsters cards. We each draw 1 card at a time, until we draw 3 of the same card. I know good and well you have triples of most of your monsters in that deck, as do I. So the person who successfully has 3 of whatever monster first is the winner. And to further the fun, Magic and Trap Cards may be used against your opponent. I’ll show you how soon enough.?The cloak pulls his deck out of his pocket, kneels down and places it on the ground after a quick shuffle. He then watches as Haga reluctantly does the same.

Haga: “Hmph, this is going to be a piece of cake for me. Who goes first??o:p>

The Cloak: “First turn honors are mine.?The cloak draws a card and smirks. “My first card is Change of Heart. Too bad it’s a 1 per deck card, bad first draw. Your move.?o:p>

Haga: Grins from ear to ear and laughs. “What a crappy first draw.? Looks down as he draws a card. “Hah, my first card is the Needle Worm.?o:p>

The Cloak: Draws. “Man Eater Bug.?o:p>

Haga: “Yeah, well I just drew another Needle Worm so ha!?o:p>

The Cloak: Tries to contain his laughter. “You are a fool, did you forget what I said earlier??o:p>

Haga: Stops smiling. “About what.?o:p>

The Cloak: “Maybe this will refresh your memory, Raigeki!?The Cloak watches as a bolt of electricity emerges from his Raigeki card and strikes Haga’s Needle Worm, burning them to ashes. Haga watches and begins to scream. “Don’t worry you fool it’s just special effects. Your cards will be returned to you undamaged when the game has ended. But in the mean time, it is your draw.?o:p>

Haga: Keeps his eyes on the Cloak, afraid of what might happen to him next. He draws a card and shows it to the Cloak. “I drew Man Eater Bug.?Haga motions for the Cloak to make his next move. He watches as the Cloak draws and erupts in laughter. Haga is shocked, he looks at the cloak, knowing good and well he couldn’t have drawn 3 of the same card already. “Whats s..s..so funny??Haga says in fear.

The Cloak: Laughs for another moment and then shows Haga the Man Eater Bug he just drew.

Haga: “I don’t get it, so you have two now. Big deal, the last one could be at the very bottom of your deck.?o:p>

The Cloak: Laughs again for a moment. “Who said I needed to draw another Man Eater Bug, when I can have yours. I play the Change of Heart.?Haga reels in fear as the Man Eater Bug is brought under Cloak’s control. He has 3 Man Eater Bug, meaning he has won the game. “Now you remember our little bargain.?The cloak says smirking inside his hood.

Haga: Stands up and laughs. “So what if you beat me, I had my fingers crossed when we made that deal so naaa. I ain’t dropping out.?o:p>

The Cloak: “Who said you would be doing it voluntarily? I activate the Magic of Punishment Game. Lets see if you like bugs after this.?o:p>

A bright yellow glow shines thru the Cloak’s clothing. The 3 Man Eater Bug cards emerge from their cards and attack Haga. Haga screams in fear as the Man Eater Bug chase him out of the alley. Haga runs past people yelling for them to save him from the monsters attacking him. The people look, but no one sees anything. It is all in Haga’s mind.

The Cloak: “Hmph, poor misguided fool. Insector Haga, looks like I just pinned down your wings and put you in a bug book. You were so certain bugs were the greatest of all living things, and now that you have 3 chasing you around, you seem less sure of that somehow. A mind is a terrible thing to waste Haga, and those Bugs will be chasing you in your mind for the rest of your pathetic life.?The Cloak laughs and walks out of the alley, noticing police carrying a screaming Haga off. “Looks like I have a date with Seto Kaiba, and the God of Obelisk.?The Cloak continues walking, and disappears into a crowd of people.

The unfortunate news of Haga’s condition reaches Maxamillion Pegasus. He goes up on stage and promptly notifies of Haga’s condition to those in attendance. He looks at his clipboard and simply states that the Cloak wins the match as Haga is in no condition to Duel.

Pegasus: Takes a deep breathe and speaks into the microphone again. “The next slated match is between Anzu Masaki and Miss Mira. Fighters will proceed to their respective spots on the Dueling Field within the next 15 minutes. While you wait for the action to begin, please welcome the comedy styles of Floppy, the worlds most horrible smelling clown.?Pegasus walks off the stage and by Floppy, having to cover his nose as he passes by. He walks into a tent and sets his clipboard down on a table and goes deep into thought. “Bakura is the Cloak, he must have used his Shadow powers on Insector Haga. Poor boy, but soon, Bakura will win the tournament and I will see my darling Cecelia once again.?o:p>

In the Duelist lounge, Anzu Masaki is rather nervous as she sits with Yugi.  Her mind is on her opponent, Miss Mira. No one in the room has even seen Miss Mira, she was in the elimination round, but disappeared after her place was secured. No one knows what she looks like, so Anzu is quite worried by this as she sits shaking beside Yugi.

Tournament Official: Enters the room. “Anzu Masaki, Miss Mira. You two may proceed to the Duel Monsters Stadium to begin your match.?o:p>

Anzu: Gulps and looks at Yugi. “That’s me Yugi, I will be back soon. Wish me luck okay.?o:p>

Yugi: “Don’t worry Anzu, I will be rooting for you. You go out there and dominate okay.?o:p>

Anzu: Walks away from Yugi and walks thru crowds of people. She enters a small tent where she is fitted with a Duel Disk. She takes a deep breath and proceeds thru the tent opening and onto the battlefield. As soon as she steps thru and onto the battlefield, she sees her opponent on the end opposite to her. “Oh my god? The secret Miss Mira is revealed before Anzu’s very eyes. Miss Mira, is Mai Valentine. At the sight of Mai, armed with her Duel Disk, Anzu is shaken up quite a bit. She sighs and walks into the painted box and Mai stands opposite her.

Mai: Lifts her head and looks Anzu over. “Hell Anzu, we meet again, and once again it’s in battle. I warn you kiddo I came here to win. I am not a push over like the ones you faced in the elimination round. So if you want to go to the Semi-Finals then you are gonna have to go thru me.?o:p>

Anzu: “I am Dueling for my friends Mai, I am gonna show you the power of our friendship. I won’t lose.?o:p>

The referee signals them to draw 5 cards. Mai is set to go first since she won the toss up.

Mai: Draws a card. “Hmm. I don’t wanna go all out turn one, so I’ll summon this monster in reverse defense mode. And to make matters worse for you Anzu, 2 Trap cards face down. Your move kiddo, I end my turn.?o:p>

Mai: 8000    Anzu: 8000

Anzu: Draws a card. “Well I summon a monster in reverse defense mode as well Mai.?No sooner does Anzu slap down her monster onto the Duel Disk, then Mai flips up her Trap Card.

Mai: “I activate the powers of Seductive Shadow.?A giant pair of eyes appears on the field and gaze at the set creature, it then flips to attack mode and the eyes vanish. “Seductive Shadow makes a monster go to attack mode when it is set face down, and whats even better, no effects activate.?o:p>

Monster Card: Shining Friendship 1300/1100. Shining Friendship emerges from the Duel Disk, flapping its Angel Wings and levitating so happily.

Anzu: “Eh, my Shining Friendship is open to her attacks now. Well I can’t change it to defense mode, but I can set this Trap Card Yugi gave me to help protect myself.?Anzu sets 1 Trap Card face down on her Duel Disk. “Your move Mai, I end my turn.?o:p>

Mai: 8000     Anzu: 8000

Mai: “My turn.?Draws a card. “Well Anzu it has been fun, I’ll admit. But? Mai reaches down and holds up her Reverse Defense mode monster for everyone to see. “I think it’s time I brought out Harpy Lady SB.?Mai places the Harpy Lady SB into attack mode.

Monster: Harpy Lady SB 1800/1300. Harpy Lady SB emerges from the Duel Disk and flies up into the sky with grace.

Mai: “Now I command you Harpy Lady SB, show that Shining Friendship your claws. Attack!?Harpy Lady SB swoops down, and attacks the Shining Friendship, but a strange and familiar clear glow surrounds shining Friendship. Harp Lady SB hits with her attack, but is destroyed and 400 LP is deducted from Mai’s LP, much to her surprise. “Wha?what just happened! My Harpy Lady SB had an attack power of 1800, how did it get destroyed and me lose 400 LP??? It is just not possible!?o:p>

Anzu: Smirks and looks at Mai. “Actually Mai it is quite possible. When you attacked, I activated my Trap. The Mirror Wall.?Anzu holds up the Mirror Wall, which causes Mai to reel back. “When you attacked, my Mirror Wall cut Harpy Lady SB’s attack in half. My Shining Friendship’s attack was 400 points higher, and since both creatures were in attack mode, your SB fell by the wayside.?o:p>

Mai: Stands there in shock. She can’t believe she fell into Mirror Wall, one of her own signature Trap Cards. She shakes it off and looks at the smiling Anzu with some slight anger. “Well as much as I hate to admit it, I fell into that one. I set this monster card face down. Your move.?o:p>

Mai: 7600    Anzu: 8000

Anzu: “I draw?Anzu draws a card. “I pay 2000 LP to keep Mirror Wall in play. Now, I equip Shining Friendship with Shining Horn!?o:p>

A small horn emerges from Shining Friendship’s forehead and glows brilliantly, illuminating the field.

Anzu: “It is just a fashion accessory. This card raises Shining Friendship’s defense points by 800. I switch it to defense mode and end my turn.?o:p>

Mai: 7600   Anzu: 6000

Mai: “I draw? Mai draws a card and smirks. “Okay Masaki, It’s high time that Mirror Wall came down.?o:p>

Anzu: Looks at her in shock and disbelif. “Huh, what did you say??o:p>

Mai: “Mirror Wall requires you pay 2000 LP per turn to keep it up. But you need 2000 LP each turn. So by activating this Magic Card, I can knock one of those turns off. I cast Scape Goat!?o:p>

Anzu: “What, Scape Goat!?o:p>

Mai: Slaps Scape Goat onto her Duel Disk. 4 Fuzzy little goats emerge from her Duel Disk and position themselves to protect Mai’s LP.

Mai: “Normally the Scape Goat are used to protect my LP, but in this case I have a new use for them. I flip this card to attack mode, Amazoness Archer!?o:p>

Amazoness Archer appears from the Duel Disk 1400/1200. The beautiful Archer draws her bow and aims it at Anzu.

Anzu: “Wha?what??o:p>

Mai: “It is simple Anzu, Scape Goat cannot be sacrificed for summoning creatures, but there is no rule that says they cannot be used as tributes for effects. I offer all 4 Scape Goat as tributes, and Amzoness Archer activates her effect. Shoot your arrow straight into Miss Masaki my Archer.?o:p>

The 4 Scape Goat turn into energy and surround the arrow. The Amazoness Archer takes aim and fires the arrow straight at Anzu. The arrow hits, and gives Anzu a slight shock. Anzu shakes it off only to realize she has lost 2400 Lp from the hit.

Anzu: “My Life Points?that hit knocked off 2400 of my LP. That means I only have 3600 left.?o:p>

Mai: Looks at Anzu and smirks. “Bingo. Like my little trick? Don’t worry, I do give encore performances, as I have 2 more Scape Goat in this deck. Even if you keep your Mirror Wall up, your defenses are suffering from my attack. Sooner or later I am going to get a clear shot and take this Duel Anzu. For now though, I end my turn. It’s your move kid.?o:p>

Mai: 7600    Anzu: 3600

Anzu: sighs softly and thinks to herself. ‘Yugi is counting on me. I can’t let him down, not now. He is my best friend, and I have to come through for him. But there isn’t any card I could use now that could save me. All Mai has to do is draw another Scapegoat and another Harpy and im as good as dead. I have to think carefully, because this next card could make or break the entire duel.?Anzu moves a hand and places it softly on her Duel Disk. ‘This is it, I have to draw a good card? Anzu closes her eyes and draws a card, she peeks at it thru one eye and then stares at Mai, smiling.

Mai: Looks back curiously. “Why are you smiling??o:p>

Anzu: “Because Mai, your Amazoness Archer is in attack mode. I play a Magic Card, Curtain of Black Magic!?Anzu places the card on her Duel Disk and a dark cold energy emerges from it. Out of the Darkness emerges a red curtain being carried by a mysterious skeleton. Energy surrounds Anzu and begins flowing into the curtain. “I pay half my Life Points Mai.?o:p>

Mai: 7600   Anzu: 1800

Mai: “Half your LP?for what.?Mai starts to worry as the skeleton laughs and pulls open the curtain, a bright light shines out and blinds Mai momentarily. When Mai opens her eyes, she is overcome with shock and horror at what she sees before her.?o:p>

Anzu: “I summon the Dark Magician!?o:p>

The Dark Magician stands strongly with arms crossed before them, holding his scepter and gazing at Mai coldly. 2500/2100

Mai: “Oh no, the Dark Magician?that’s not good.?o:p>

Anzu: “Now Dark Magician, I ask you to attack the Amazoness Archer. Black Magic Attack!?Anzu watches as the Dark Magician charges up and fires a beam of black light directly at Amazoness Archer, destroying it and taking 1100 of Mai’s LP with it.

Mai: “You have a Dark Magician? You’re a girl, not a boy! Dark Magician isn’t cute and you know good and well there isn’t a card in my deck that can beat a Dark Magician!?Growls softly while looking at Anzu.

Anzu: Crosses her arms and smiles. “Oh well Mai, I think it’s cute.?o:p>

Dark Magician: Blushes

Anzu: Anyway, I end my turn.

Mai: 6500   Anzu: 1800

Mai: Draws a card and sighs. ‘With that Dark Magician in play, I don’t know what I can do. If I just keep setting defenses they’ll just keep getting hit and Anzu will soon get a clear shot at my LP and start to wipe me out. No card in my deck could beat that Dark Magician as I currently am. But I do think there is one I could use against her.?Looks at her hand. “I just need to draw the Ritual for it and pray I get it right this time. No sense letting her hit me directly.?“I set this monster in reverse defense mode.?Mai places a monster face down on her Duel Disk. “I end my turn.?o:p>

Anzu: Draws. “Okay Mai, I send my Dark Magician to attack your set.? The Dark Magician gathers up and focuses his energy. Then he unleashes it in a blast of black energy that destroys Mai’s set Harpy Lady. “Well Mai, It seems the Dark Magician has set things in my favor. Your move.?She stands tall, smiling at Mai. Knowing it makes Mai pissed seems to make it that much more fun.

Mai: “You should have done more kiddo, you might have won. But now it’s time to end this and it all starts with this card Ritual of the Mirror.?Mai holds the card up and shows it to Anzu, then slaps it on her Duel Disk. She places a card in the graveyard from her hand to activate the Ritual. “I bring forth Devil’s Mirror!?The Devils Mirror appears on the field facing Anzu. Anuz can see her reflection in it, and also notices it has 2100/1800 stats. Mai seems pleased though, she stands there smiling, then motions she passes her turn.

Anzu: Draws and extends her hand out. “I attack Devils Mirror with the Dark Magician. Attack Dark Magician with Black Magic.?Dark Magician attacks the Devils Mirror, but the glass glows a mysterious color and sends the blast back at Dark Magician, destroying it. “What happened?  Anzu said in horror seeing her Dark Magician vanish before her eyes.

Mai: “Because, I combined that cute coating on my Devil Mirror with the Mirror Force Trap card I had set.?Hold it up. “As your Dark Magician attacked, Mirror Force sent it back. My Devils Mirror stays in play, and your Dark Magician goes bye bye.?Starts to laugh.

Anzu: “No?I don’t have any monsters in my hand or any Magic or Traps I could use? Anzu stands there gripping her pants with one hand and starts to cry some. “Yugi, I failed?I pass my turn?o:p>

Mai: “Devils Mirror, attack!?Devil’s Mirror attacks Anzu and destroys her remaining LP, Anzu looks into the Devils Mirror as it blasts, and see the tears she cries. The Duel Disks turn off, and as soon as they do, Mai pulls hers off and runs across the field to where Anzu is standing. As Anzu falls to her knees, Mai catches her in her arms and hugs her tightly against her chest. She holds Anzu tightly against her and lets her cry. “Shhhh, it’s okay Anzu. Baby im here for you and it’s okay, you did very well and Yugi is very proud of you.?Mai holds her tightly, comforting Anzu from the emotional outburst that has overtaken her. They stand there like that, just holding each other, and developing an unsaid friendship from Mai’s kindness.

Bakura now is another step closer to his goal. Stay tuned for Chapter 5, next time.
