What if Yami Bakura held all 7 Millennium Items? #5--by JE

Chapter 5: Horror begins, end of Seto Kaiba.

The tournament was going well. Yugi Mutou could hardly stand his excitement. This round, he would face off against someone in the dueling ring, and go on to take the tournament. Yugi was fighting once again for his grandfather, and he knew that with his friends backing him that nothing would stop him.

Yugi: "This is for my grandpa. I'm going to win for him. But I can't help but feel that something is wrong. There is a really cold pain in my heart, and I don't know why." Yugi hears someone calling to him. He closes his eyes, and drifts into his mind. Entering the chamber of his other, Yami. He walks up to Yami and smiles at him, however Yami looks back at him with a straight face. "Hey Yami. Did you call me here to your chamber for something?"

Yami Yugi: Puts a hand on Yugi's shoulder. "Yugi what I am about to tell you will be especially difficult, but you must hear it im afraid. You may want to sit down."

Yugi: Blinks slightly. Not understanding what the spirit of his puzzle could be keeping from him that’s so hard. He takes a seat, the spirit sits next to him and wraps an arm around him. This worries Yugi, as he knows something must be wrong if the spirit of the puzzle is this concerned. “Spirit, what is it?”

Yami Yugi: Looks away slightly, then turns back to Yugi. “Yugi, this is about Bakura. The spirit of his Millennium Ring is loose, and has done some horrible things. Malik, Isis and Shadi, are dead.” He watches stilly as Yugi’s face burns in fear and pain. He can tell Yugi is hurt by this news. “Yugi, I am sorry. Bakura’s spirit has claimed all of the Millennium items from them. Now all he needs is your puzzle. Then he will have assembled them all. Yugi, you are a target as we speak for his sick game. I am afraid that I will be taking control of the vessel until that spirit is gone again. It is for your safety.”

Yugi is overcome with emotion. This pain he feels in his chest is unrelenting. He holds his chest, and feels his heart rip in half. He knows Bakura isn’t that kind of person, and that he has to be under his evil spirits control.

Outside of the chambers of their mind, Yugi stands up and thinks to himself. ‘Yami I know you mean well but I have to face it sooner or later. I have to be strong, even in the face of something like this. I will need your help, but I know together we will win.

Yami nods at Yugi in their mind. ‘Together there is nothing we can’t do my friend, and I promise we’ll do what we can to win this tournament.’

Yugi walks out the door of the waiting area, and walks towards the crowds of people. He walks thru the crowds, and heads towards the tent where the duelists are fitted with their duel disks. He enters the tent, and is fit with a duel disk. He sighs slightly and walks out the other side and into the dueling arena.

Announcer: “Ladies and gentlemen, it is with great honor that I present to you this next bout between two of Duel Monsters most popular duelists. Introducing first, the winner of the Duelist Kingdom tournament and crowned King of Games. Yugi Mutou”

The crowds roar, which takes Yugi by surprise, as he wasn’t expecting such a warm welcome. He stands in the painted box, and awaits his opponent.

His opponent steps out of the tent on the opposite side. Yugi can’t make out who it is, but he then turns his attention to the announcer.

Announcer: “Ladies and Gentlemen. Industrial Illusions is proud to present our Corporate Champion and winner of the Duel Monsters fifth division Championship 3 years running. Please welcome Maximillion Pegasus’s own, Jasmine Pegasus!”

Yugi is overwhelmed; It is her, Jasmine Pegasus. They are friends, well, that’s still unsaid, but he cannot believe that in the quarterfinals of such an important tournament, he would have to face someone of Jasmine’s skill. Inside his mind, a still slightly tearful Yugi Mutou prepares himself for the match at hand.

Jasmine Pegasus: She throws back her hair and walks out onto the duel field. She smiles a little at Yugi as she does, ready to take him on head to head. ‘I have been waiting for this rematch.’ She thinks to herself. ‘He is strong, I can’t under estimate him, he even defeated Uncle Maxie. His power comes from his puzzle, I have to be careful how I duel him.’ She steps into the box and looks straightforward, noticing how calm and determined Yugi seems. Not his usual playful self. “Yugi, I have been waiting for this, for awhile now. I came to this tournament just to duel with you. I am ready for you, and I have been for some time now.”

Yugi: Smiles. “Jasmine Pegasus, it will be an honor truly to duel someone of your status, strength and skill. However, I came here today to win, and get the prize money to help someone I love. So I will not be defeated by you or anyone else who crosses my path.”

Jasmine: Looks at him almost speechless. ‘Yugi Mutou isn’t like this. He is usually kinder, more gentle. This Yugi seems more bent on satisfying his thirst for whatever it is he hopes to attain.’

Announcer: “This match is with 8000 Life Points. Yugi Mutou has vouched to go first, so lets get this underway.” As he says that, the bell rings and it is Yugi’s turn.

Yugi: He reaches down and draws a card from his deck. He then picks one out and holds it. “Alright, for my first move I lay the Celtic Guardian in attack mode.” The Celtic Guardian emerges from the duel disk and slashes it’s sword swiftly thru the air. Then stands still facing Jasmine. 1400/1200. “And for my last move, I set 1 card on my Magic Zone.” Yugi plays the card face down and the looks up at Jasmine. “Your move”.

Jasmine: “Right.” She nods then draws a card, smiling. “Looks like I drew one of my strongest cards. Gemini Elf, and I summon them in attack mode.” She slaps the card on her duel disk and the twin elves emerge from her duel disk and strike a most enticing pose. “Alright Gemini Elf, attack the Celtic Guardian.” The Two elves join hands and lunge at the Guardian, but suddenly stop in mid attack and freeze dead in place. “What happened?” Jasmine blinks.

Yugi: “Your Elves ran straight into my Trap, the Spellbinding Circle. Your monsters were ensnared by it and now are locked in place. They can’t attack of change modes, they are stuck.” Yugi smiles slightly as Jasmine looks back at him a little frustrated.

Jasmine: “I’ll admit, Spellbinding Circle is a strong card, but you used it a little prematurely. Nice save nonetheless. I shall end my turn. Your move Yugi.”

Jasmine: 8000    Yugi: 8000

Yugi: Looks down and draws a card from his deck. “Now I offer the Celtic Guardian.” The Celtic Guardian evaporates from the field as Yugi plays down his next card. A loud roar comes from his duel disk.

Jasmine: “Oh no, that sound. I know what it is.” Sighs a little and looks away.

Yugi: “Summoned Skull, attack Gemini Elf!” The Summoned Skull 2500/1200 emerges from the duel disk and fires a powerful attack straight at Gemini Elf, destroying it instantly. Yugi watches as Jasmine reels from the attack, and her Life Points go down. “That will end my turn. Your move Jasmine.”

Jasmine: Puts a hand on her deck. ‘I have to believe in the heart of the cards, Yugi is a tough opponent. Please, let me draw something to turn things in my favor.’ As she draws a card, a smile comes to her face. “Thank you Uncle Maxie.” Looks up at Yugi and smiles at him. “I play a Magic Card, Snatch Steal.” As she plays the card down, a giant brown sack consumes the Summoned Skull and moves towards Jasmines side of the field. The sack opens and drops Summoned Skull in under her control, much to the displeasure of Yugi. “Now I also play a monster, La Jinn the mystical genie of the lamp.” La Jinn emerges from her Duel Disk in an instant, arms crossed with a confident grin as he gazes at Yugi. 1800/1000

Yugi: Looks on at Jasmine, surprised by such an assault. “I commend you Jasmine, that was an extraordinary move you just made. Continue your turn.”

Jasmine: “I attack your LP with Summoned Skull and La Jinn. This is gonna be good.” Summoned Skull and La Jinn power up and unleash two powerful attacks that directly connect and hit Yugi, significantly decreasing his Life Points. “End phase.” Smiles cheerfully at the great move she just made.

Jasmine: 7600    Yugi: 3700

Yugi: “I draw.” Draws a card from his deck. “And as par for the effect of Snatch Steal, I gain 1000 Life Points during the Standby Phase. Now I summon one of my more powerful cards, Kuribo in attack mode.” Yugi slaps the Kuribo down and the little ball of fuzz emerges from it’s duel disk, roaring in it’s own cute language.

Jasmine: Looks on, mute. “Um… O.O” She just stands there.

Yugi: “Have you forgotten Jasmine, about my Multiply card.” Holds up Multiply at her.

Jasmine: Gasps. ‘I forgot he had that card, damn it, this is gonna give him some extra time.’

Yugi: “Now my one Kuribo becomes many.” Where the one Kuribo was, a stack of 5 appears. “ Now my turn is over.”

Jasmine: Nods and draws. “Alright, this is great. This will surely help me obliterate those Kuribo. I sacrifice my La Jinn and your Summoned Skull for Barrel Dragon in attack mode.” The La Jinn and Summoned Skull turn into steam and reshape into the form of Barrel Dragon, which appears with a mighty roar.  “You know it’s effect right? I flip 3 coins and if two out of the three are heads, one monster on the field is automatically destroyed. I’ll activate that effect now.”

A roulette of 3 coins appears on the field. They flip into the air, and all 3 land on heads.

Jasmine: Smiles at Yugi. “Looks like one of those Kuribo is destroyed. And now that it’s out of my way, Barrel Dragon is free to take another. Attack Barrel Dragon.” She commands the Barrel Dragon to attack, and it’s cannons charge up. Firing two separate streams, one attack, one effect. Each stream connects and destroys 1 of Yugi’s Kuribo. Leaving 3 remaining. Jasmine smiles at Yugi, and passes the turn back to him.

Yugi: Places his hand on his deck to draw. He stops and thinks to himself as he closes his eyes. ‘Grandpa, I will save you. I swear I will. As long as I have the Heart of the Cards, and the love of you and my friends...’

The Millennium Puzzle begins to glow brightly, everyone is blinded as it does. Jasmine, covers her eyes and when the light finally disappears, she turns to see Yugi standing much more confident than before. He seems more serious to her as he stands tall.

Yami Yugi: “I will never be defeated, I will save Yugi’s Grandfather and this card will do it.” Yami draws a card and throws it on his Magic Zone. “Angelic Donation. I draw 3 cards, then discard 2.” Yami draws 3 then discards 2 cards from his hand. “Now for the next step, Monster Reborn.”

Jasmine looks on, seeing what Yugi is doing. Wondering what he meant by this card will do it.

Yami Yugi: “While your Barrel Dragon maybe one the most powerful Machines around, this card is the supreme. I offer the powers of Magnet Warrior Alpha, Magnet Warrior Beta and Magnet Warrior Gamma.” Magnet Warrior Alpha 1400/1700, Beta 1700/1600 and Gamma 1500/1800 appear and then begin to transform before them. Jasmine watches on as the three warriors merge together and then a blinding flash of light. She opens her eyes and reels in horror at the sight before her.

Pegasus: Looks on at the duel and is shocked at the monster before him. “Yugi summoned his decks ultimate monster. Oh Jasmine, I doubt there is anything you can do to overcome this card.”

Yami Yugi: Smiles and looks at his monster. “The supreme Magnet Warrior Valkyrion, the ultimate Machine monster card.” The mighty monster stands up and flaps it’s metal wings. It stands tall, looking down on the field, running data analysis of all the monsters in the game. 3500/3850. “Now Jasmine, I attack with Magnet Warrior Valkyrion! Solid Sword Slash.” Valkyrion pulls it’s sword and charges at Barrel Dragon, and in 2 quick swipes, slashes thru the metal monster.

Jasmine: Looks on in horror as her favorite monster is eradicated before her eyes. ‘He destroyed Barrel Dragon.’ Falls to her knees. ‘There is not a single card in my deck that can defeat such a beast. I’d rather concede honorably than be crushed and humiliated by Yugi.’. She stands up and calls her duel disk back. “Yugi Mutou, I concede.” She places her hand over her deck. “The game is yours today, but next time im kicking your butt.”

Announcer: Raises his arm. “Yugi Mutou advances to the semi finals folks.”

The crowd roars some as Yami returns back to Yugi’s subconscious, and Yugi once again takes his place as the host.

Yugi: Walks across the field and up to Jasmine. “Thanks for such a wonderful duel, you were great and I hope we can duel again sometime.”

Jasmine: “Yeah, that’ll be fine. Wanna hang out together until the end of the tournament? I have to go back home with Uncle Max after this and I won’t be able to see you or anyone else for a little while.” She blushes some. “I think im crushing on you.” Blinks.

Yugi: “uh.. um, yeah we can hang out. Heh heh, what did you mean crushing?”

Elsewhere, Seto Kaiba waits patiently for his match to begin. Eyes closed, he sees visions of another Blue Eyes White Dragon, possibly in the hands of Yugi Mutou. He grows angry at the thought of his rival gaining control of a card that in his eyes is all rightfully his.

Seto Kaiba: Stands up and opens his cold and mirrored eyes. “Yugi, I will defeat you no matter what you do. I am going to win that Blue Eyes Yugi Mutou, no matter what I have to do to get it.”

Voice: “You’ll get it, and I can assist you in ensuring that, for a small price anyway.”

Seto Kaiba: Turns around and looks at a figure in shadows. “I don’t need your help, but humor me with the details anyway.”

Elsewhere

Jounouchi: “SAY WHAT!”

Announcer: “You heard right the first time. We drew pairings for Semi Finals and Yugi and Kaiba are in the first match. Followed by the Cloak and Miss Mira”

Anzu: Looks at the announcer angrily. “But Yugi Mutou just came off a tough duel and you put him in the very first match. And of all people against Seto Kaiba!”

Announcer: Looks at his clipboard. “Well I’m sorry Miss, but the drawings are random. There was a 50/50 chance he would be in the first match, and a 33% chance his opponent would be Mister Kaiba. I am afraid there is nothing unfair to be grounds for disbarring the duel, so it will begin immediately following the next stage performance.” The announcer puts his clipboard under his arm and walks off.

Jounouchi: Gives the announcer the finger as he walks off. He looks at Anzu and sighs. “Yuge isn’t in any condition to duel this soon, he just won a match.”

Anzu: Looks down. “Yugi will still win.” Holds her hands tightly together. “He always comes thru, Kaiba will not beat him. Yugi is fighting for his grandpa. He won’t lose.”

In the chambers of his mind, Yugi Mutou sits in his room. Pondering life and his current situation.

Yugi: “Of all things to happen…” He hugs a plushie bear. “No sooner do I duel Jasmine then I face Seto Kaiba. I am still rebounding from my duel with her, if not for Yami’s help, I would have certainly lost.”

Yami Yugi: He opens the door into Yugi’s chamber and stands there looking at him for a moment. He then casually approaches him. “Yugi, do not worry. I will face Kaiba myself, and with your support, we will go on to save your grandfather and win the tournament together.” He stops infront of Yugi and kneels next to him. “We are friends aren’t we?”

Yugi looks at Yami, he looks away and nods gently.

Yami Yugi: “Friends are a union of two people, built on love and trust. Yugi Mutou, I trust and love you. You are closer to me than any other, and I know together we can do anything. In the chambers of your heart, you have the support of everyone you have ever known. People you have loved and cared for come together in you, to make shine brightly in situations so grim.” He takes Yugi’s hand. “If you believe in them and me, your grandfather will be saved, and Kaiba will fall.”

Yugi: “Yami… I…” He grabs Yami and wraps his arms around him. “I have to save my grandpa, please don’t let him die. I beg you please don’t let him die.” He holds Yami tightly and begins to cry on his chest. “I… believe in you.”

Yami Yugi: Slowly puts his arms around Yugi. “Yugi, I assure you. For your sake…”

The Millennium Puzzle glows a bright golden color, and the figure of Yami Yugi emerges thru the light.

Yami Yugi: “Kaiba will fall!” Yami stands up and walks from the waiting area and back to the tent where he is suited up, and prepared for his duel. He places his deck in the Duel Disk and walks thru the curtain. The roar of the crowd does not faze him. He stays fixated on his target, Seto Kaiba. Kaiba is already on the field, and stares coldly back at Yugi with a look of pure anger in his face.

Seto Kaiba: He stares coldly at Yugi. His eyes filled with intensity. “Yugi, I am going to defeat. I will not allow you to obtain the 5^th Blue Eyes.”

Yami Yugi: “Kaiba”, he says softly. “I am not here for the Blue Eyes, but despite what you say Kaiba. You will be defeated at my hands.”

On a building top, a mysterious glow comes from it. A figure stands above everyone else, gazing down on the duel about to transpire. It is the figure of Yami Bakura, and the glow is emitted from the Millennium Rod.

Bakura: Looks down smiling a evil smirk. “Hmph, well it seems the mind control powers of Malik’s Millennium Rod came in handy. When Yugi loses his duel to Kaiba, in his weakened state from the loss, his mind will be most vulnerable. All Kaiba has to do is defeat him, and then Osiris and the legendary Millennium Puzzle will be mine. And since Kaiba is under my control, he will willingly hand over Obelisk to me. With the union of the God cards and the 7 Millennium Items, the power of the Millennia will at last be mine to command. As it always was meant to be.” He extends his arm and the rod illuminates brightly.

Seto Kaiba/Yami Yugi: Each draw 5 cards and toss them into the sky. 5 holographic images of cards appear before them. “Duel!”

The crowd roars at the start of the duel. People are talking about who will win and how great both players are.

Seto Kaiba: “I will begin.” Kaiba draws a card. “And this is my first card, X-Head Cannon in attack mode.” Kaiba slaps the X Cannon Head card down. The mighty monster emerges from the duel disk, pointing it’s two turrets at Yugi. “I will end my turn Yugi. Your move.”

Yami Yugi: “Very well Kaiba. I draw.” Yami draws a card and sets it face down on his M/T zone. He then sets a monster card face down on his monster zone. “Alright Kaiba. For my turn I set this monster card in reverse defense mode, and one Trap card face down for later. My turn ends, and it’s your move.”

Seto Kaiba: He smirks some and draws a card. He looks at it carefully. In his head, the voice of Yami Bakura tells him to play it. “Yugi, I will summon this monster. The Z-Metal Caterpillar in attack mode.” The monster no sooner is summoned then begins to float in the air along with the X Cannon Head. “And combine it with X Cannon Head to create the XZ-Caterpillar Cannon.” The two monsters merge together, and form the XZ-Caterpillar Cannon, much to Yami’s disliking. 2400/2100

Yami Yugi: “The XZ-Caterpillar Cannon.”

Seto Kaiba: “Yes Yugi, and I believe you know its effect?” Kaiba smirks and puts one card from his hand into his graveyard. “By discarding one card from my hand, I can destroy 1 Magic or Trap card that’s face down on my opponent’s field. And I activate it now.” The XZ-Caterpillar Cannon shoots a small-scale blast that destroys Yami Yugi’s set Trap Card. It reveals itself and Kaiba smirks some. “The Curse of Hexagram, or Spellbinding Circle card. Tough loss Yugi.”

Yami Yugi looks on at Kaiba with anger in his face, but attempts to keep his cool and focus on whats important, defeating Kaiba.

Seto Kaiba: “Now that you have no Trap cards to stop me so attack XZ-Caterpillar Cannon!” Kaiba raises his arm and sends his cannon to attack. The Giant Solider of Stone appears in defense mode and is blown to pieces by Kaiba’s attack. Kaiba smirks some and folds his arms. “Really Yugi, I know you can do better than that. I end my turn.”

Seto 8000    Yami 8000

Yami Yugi: Draws and card and adds it to his hand. “Alright Kaiba, I summon this monster face down, and 1 more M/T card.” Yami places both cards down and closes his eyes.  “I can’t do anything about your cannon for now, I just have to wait until I draw the right card. Your move Kaiba.”

Seto Kaiba: Draws a card and slaps it on the field in attack mode. “I summon Sangan in attack mode.” The fuzzy Sangan appears with a menacing smile, as it gazes at Yugi. 1000/600. “Now Yugi, I will attack your set creature with my XZ-Caterpillar Cannon! Attack!” Kaiba send his monster to attack, but the attack turns back and blasts Sangan and XZ-Caterpillar Cannon, and both are destroyed much to Kaiba’s disbelief. “What! How is that possible, what did you do?”

Yami Yugi: Smiles some and holds up a card. “I used a Trap Card, Mirror Force, Holy Barrier. This Trap Card sent the attack of your monsters back at you and destroyed them. That’s what I did Kaiba.” Smirks.

Seto Kaiba: Growls. “You set a Trap for me, damn you Yugi Mutou. I’m done playing around with you! Despite what happened, Sangan’s effect is still used. So I choose this monster from my deck with 1500 or less attack points and add it to my hand.” Kaiba pulls out his deck and runs thru it. He pulls a card from it and adds it to his hand, then shuffles his deck back together. “Next turn Yugi, I will crush you. You will not get your hands on my Blue Eyes, and I will make certain of that.”

Yami Yugi: Looks at Kaiba and sees his truth, and the dark hate that was never there has surfaced in Kaiba, and a new level of intensity that was unseen has been realized.

Seto Kaiba: “Yugi I have never been more dedicated to defeating anyone in my entire life than on this day. You have no right to that which is mine, and you shall not obtain it.”

Yami Yugi: “You are wrong Kaiba. I will not lose, I have the fate of my Grandfather resting on the outcome of this tournament. And I promise you Kaiba, I will not let him down. I will not fail him Kaiba, and you will not stop me!”

Bakura: Looks down on the Duel and laughs as he clenches the Millennium Rod. “You are wrong Yugi. You will lose to Kaiba, and your Millennium Puzzle will be mine at last. And once im done with Kaiba, I’ll dispose of him too. You will see the power of the Millennia before you die Yugi Mutou. And neither you or the spirit of your puzzle can stop me once all the items are mine to control.”

The fate of Seto Kaiba is sealed. His selfishness has paved the way for Yami Bakura’s dark desires, and now it seems that the final phase of Bakura’s cruel intentions have taken shape. Under Bakura’s control, Kaiba is determined to defeat Yugi, and it seems immanent if Kaiba’s threats take flight.  If Yami Yugi loses, it is the end.
