Being the eldest sister had always been the
toughest job for Prue Halliwell, but things got even more complicated with
the arrival of younger sister Phoebe. The two had their problems in the
past, but when Phoebe came back to The Manor things took an even more
unexpected turn.
As Phoebe read out an ancient incantation from The Book of Shadows, the three girls were given their magical powers. |
| They soon realised they were in fact The Charmed
One's, the strongest witches, and Prue's was the strongest power, and one
that her Grams had also had. She began with Telekinesis - the ability to move objects with her mind, and although she was sceptical at first, it only took some sisterly taunting from Phoebe for her to realise the strength she now possessed. Although Prue was embracing the idea of having powers, she also found new struggles because of them. Her romance with Andy Trudeau was the first casualty. Prue was worried that Andy wouldn't be able to handle the truth so she performed a truth spell on him. |

Whilst Andy reacted badly to the
news that she was a witch, he reacted even worse when he found out about the
spell. The relationship was effectively over, despite the two still caring
deeply for each other, and worse was to come when Andy was tragically killed
at the end of Season 1. After Andy's death, Prue found it hard to continue life as a Charmed One, and it took some convincing before she would entertain the idea, but once back on track there was no stopping the fiery Prue from kicking demon ass. |
| As with
all the girls, they were aware that there powers would grow, and Prue
eventually developed the extra gift of Astral Projection - the ability to be
in two places at once. Although this came in handy on more than one
occasion, it also allowed the part of Prue that wanted to have a normal life
free from responsibility to break out. Despite the eldest sister being the most powerful, Prue was still in need of the Power of Three to fight the strongest demons, and sadly at the close of Season 3, whilst Phoebe was in the Underworld, the Source's assassin 'Shax' turned up at The Manor leaving Prue and Piper defenceless against him. Whilst Piper was saved, Prue's life sadly ended way before it's time. Trivia: Whilst many thought that Paige would inherit Prue's telekinesis, she actually only has the power to orb things to her. |
