Missing Stuff

In most video games, things are cut out of the game just before it is released, but left in the game's rom itself. Through hacking, many things have been found in various games. I don't know how to hack roms, but there is some left over stuff in some games that you can see for yourself.

So far, we have only managed to find some extra stuff in the Japanese Final Fight Arcade game. Simply go into the service menu (Press F2 if you are using Mame, for instance), then the get into the Test Menu. Then go inside the Object Test menu, where there are four categories of objects... Characters and Scroll 1, 2 and 3. Scroll means backgrounds etc. What you see here is the stuff you can see for yourself that makes a difference:

Missing Sign
In Round 3 there is a sign with the word "Surf" on it, complete with a picture. However this other sign was found, which isn't used in the game. It is identical to the other one in shape but has a different word and picture.

The first screenshot is directly from the test menu, but given the right colours. Next to it is the complete sign on it's own. Below is a mock up shot of it being used in the game proper, with the real deal next to it. Why this sign wasn't used is unknown, maybe Capcom put it in then forgot about it or just thought it wasn't appropriate in any version.

Dinamite
Capcom couldn't be bothered to hire a spell checker for their game, so mistakes were made. Find the stick of dynamite in the object menu and if you look closely enough you'll notice that it is spelt "Dinamite" But in the actual game it's back to normal thanks to some last minute downright dodgy editing. Picture has been enlarged.
