Final Fight FAQ
This is to help people who want to know more about what happened in the Final Fight games. If you want to add any more questions, e-mail me and, if there any good, I'll put them on this section.
1) Why was Final Fight Online made?
Final Fight is suppose to be one of the best scrolling games ever- so where the hell are the web sites dedicated to it? Sure Street Fighter Legends has a small sub site but that's about it. So this site was made to inform people about the Final Fight series and how good it is.
2) Why was there so much stuff missing on the SNES version of Final Fight? How come lower consoles like the Atari had more stuff in?
Even though the lower consoles had more on, they had worse graphics, sound and loading times than the SNES. Plus consoles like the Atari could have the game on more discs, so they could fit more stuff in like the fourth level and Guy- something that wasn't possible on the SNES. Maybe it's because the SNES version came out in the same year as arcade Street Fighter 2, so perhaps the team doing Final Fight were rushed to do it so they could start work on converting it to the SNES.
3) Which games are part of the Street Fighter/Final Fight story line?

Not quite sure if Final Fight Revenge is in the list, but Capcom have not said anything, plus some of the endings in FFR make sense and open up new stories for Alpha 3. (Cody's especially) Rival Schools may also not officially be part of it but the first game did have Sakura from Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3 in it.
4) Is it true that Guy likes/knows Ryu and Ken?
Some (mainly Japanese) sites say that he is. However, Capcom have not confirmed it. There is dodgy art work of the three together, I'll try and find it.
5) At the end of Final Fight, Guy beats up Cody. Why does Guy do this?
Quite a lot of people think that Guy does this because he is jealous of Cody, because Cody gets Jessica. This is not true. At the intro to Final Fight, Guy doesn't even know who the hell Jessica until Cody reminds him. The most likely reason for Guy to beat Cody up is because Jessica is following them, but Cody is to busy thinking about fighting that he doesn't bother waiting for her. This makes Guy angry at Cody's rudeness, so he beats him up to slow Cody down.
6) Why is Cody in jail for Alpha 3?
Edi. E arrested Cody in Final Fight Revenge, because he was getting into so many fights. Revenge was set before Alpha 3, so it makes sense story line wise. Cody escapes from jail during Alpha 3.
7) What's the deal with Poison and Roxy?
When Final Fight first came out, people kept saying that the girls were transvestites, because they sounded like men. When the Super Nintendo version of Final Fight came out, Nintendo of America didn't like the idea of hitting women, and also didn't like the idea of having transvestites in the game. So they got rid of Poison and Roxy and replaced them with Billy and Sid, who had all of Poison and Roxy's attacks, but were men. However, Nintendo of Japan didn't seem to mind, and in the Japanese version of Final Fight, kept the girls in there. However, in the Street Fighter 3 series, Poison is with Hugo, and sounds a lot more like a women. So They might of been men in Final Fight, but got a sex change for Street Fighter 3. Capcom kind of went a bit mad story line wise here.
8) Is it true Belger got resurrected?
This is true. In Final Fight Revenge, Belger was resurrected as a zombie. This is one of the most ridiculous things ever to happen in a Final Fight game. However, Guy kills the zombie Belger in Final Fight Revenge.
9) Why were some of the names changed in SNES Final Fight?
Nintendo thought the names for some characters were too naughty for kiddies, like the incredibly nasty "Damnd" or the even worse offending "Sodom". So they changed them to bad names, Damnd was renamed "Thrasher" an Sodom was given a "great" new name "Katana". However, the Japanese versions had the original names.
10) When did the Mad Gear gang fall apart?
1989. It was hurt badly after it lost it leader, Belger, but in FF Revenge, got him back (even though he was a zombie) However Belger got killed again, and the gang regrouped under a new leader, and the gang spread all over the world. But Haggar, Maki and Carlos defeated it again, and after that, it fell apart.
11) Was Final Fight going to be a sequel to Street Fighter 1?
Some people agree with this, some don't. There was this character from the first Street Fighter game called Joe, and in Final Fight, Cody is suppose to have moves like Joe. Street Fighter 1 did come out before Final Fight. Some people even think that Cody looks like Joe. I've even heard that people complained to Capcom that they wanted Street Fighter 2 not to be a side scrolling game like Final Fight. I'm not sure if Final Fight was going to be a sequel to Street Fighter 1. Maybe you guys can e-mail me with help?
12) What happened to the members of the Mad Gear Gang after it fell apart?
Only a few members of the gang have had story lines after Final Fight. I do know a few though:
DAMND: Went to the tropics just after FF Revenge. He's just a normal person now I suppose.
SODOM: He did a lot. He tried to get the Mad Gear gang back together again, but failed, then tried to become a Japanese citizen.
ANDORE Jr and POISON: After leaving Mad Gear, Andore joined the Skull Cross Gang. After that Gang fell apart, he joined up with his friend Poison and became a wrestler, but is now known as Hugo.
EDI. E: Edi. E got a high rank in the Metro City police force, and arrested Cody. After the gang fell apart, he just stayed in the Police Force. Then he learnt that Cody had escaped from jail, and tries to re-capture him. He fails though.
The rest of the normal gang members just either left and went back to being normal people or joined another gang.
13) Who defeated the bosses in Final Fight?
DAMND- Cody
SODOM- Guy
EDI. E- Cody
ROLENTO- Guy
ABIGAIL- Cody
BELGER- All three
For Belger, they probably all beat him up a bit then all punched him until he was near a window, at this point he was defeated, then one of the three knocked him out of the window. Don't know who knocked him out though.
14) Did the three split up during Final Fight?
Yes, they did. After the West Side of Metro City, Cody went to the Bay Area, and Guy and Haggar went to the Industrial Area section. After that, they all met up again and did the last area, Up town.
15) Do Cody and Jessica split up?
Yes. I think it might be just before FF Revenge or after Alpha 2. But you might say "Cody was arrested before Alpha 2!" This may prove that FF Revenge is not part of the story line. Another flaw is that in Final Fight 2 it says Cody and Jessica are on holiday-this isn't true, as Final Fight 2 is set just after Alpha 2, at which point Cody is either dumped and/or arrested.
16) What are the rarest Final Fight games?
Final Fight Revenge (Saturn)
The last Saturn game and only released in Japan in very small quantities. People either want it because it is Final Fight related or the fact that it is the last Saturn game. Good luck in finding this one.
Final Fight 3 (SNES)
Largely ignored when it was released, Final Fight 3 is now a very rare game. In mint condition you can expect to pay a high price but keep in mind that the cartridge alone went for over £30 on eBay recently. Not as rare as Final Fight Revenge by a long chalk but still one of the rarest SNES games.
17) What are the easiest Final Fight games to get?
The first one is obviously Final Fight One for the GBA, as it is ultra available and cheap. Ones for home computers like the Atari are not that hard to get hold of but these are normally the worst versions thanks to long loading times. Final Fight CD, which is the best conversion, is on eBay a lot and goes, normally, for less than £20, so if you want the best version go for that.
18) How do you say Rolento?
You say Rolent- the o is silent. But it is spelt Rolento, even though on Final Fight 2 Rolento's name is spelt Rolent- which is wrong, but is an easy mistake to make.
19) Why does Sodom hate Guy so much?
Sodom was defeated by Guy in front of hundreds of Mad Gear members. This ruined Sodom's life, and after Final Fight he wanted to take revenge on Guy. He hates Guy for embarrassing him in front of all the Mad Gear members. Sodom also doesn't like the fact that Guy is Japanese, which is what Sodom wanted to be in the first place.
20) Why does Lucia have such revealing clothing in Final Fight 3? She's suppose to be head of the crime prevention team!
Ahhh, come on- she is a female character for goodness sake (no offence female FF Online readers), and normally girls in games have revealing clothing. Just look at Blaze from Streets of Rage 2 or 3. Capcom just did that probably in a lame attempt to make the game sell more.
21) What's all this about Carlos being in FF3?
There is a rumour and a cheat out there that says you can play as Carlos in FF3, but I've seen no pictures and I can't get the cheat code to work. It's probably a load of crap anyway.
22) Were the stars of Final Fight going to be in Street Fighter 2?
Yes but then Capcom changed it's mind and took them all out and created brand new characters.
23) Are Haggar and Zangief rivals?
Apparently yes but they have never met yet.
24) Why are there never any Final Fight people in the crossover games?
X-Men Vs Street Fighter and Marvel Superheroes Vs. Street Fighter had just Street Fighter characters in it for the Capcom side. (Apart from that freaky little hidden character in MSvsSF.) Marvel Vs Capcom had a small player roster (but most of the characters were new, but still no Final Fight characters). Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 STILL didn't have any FF stars in it, even with a roster of 50 odd characters. Maybe they don't put them in because they don't suit the style of Vs. games. It would probably be better if the FF stars had projectile attacks and supers, as most Vs. characters have these.
25) Is it true Cody was based on Joe from the first Street Fighter game?
Yes, Cody is supposed to have similar moves as Joe from Street Fighter 1. Joe has a flying kick very similar to Cody, but it's up to you to play SF1 or emulate it to see it for yourself.
26) What year is Final Fight set?
Final Fight is set in 1987. However, there are quite a few mistakes and misleading information. On most of the versions of Final Fight it says it is set sometime in the 90's, and on the GBA version, Final Fight One, it says it is set in 1989- which is still wrong. 1989 was when Final Fight was made- not set. The Mega CD version says that the game takes place "some time in 1992", which is wrong again.
27) How do you do the "Posion's hidden taunt" on the Dreamcast version of SF3: Third Strike?
You can't- this is arcade exclusive. It was removed for Dreamcast. To do it at the arcade, Press HP and HK and then hold start whilst playing as Hugo (obviously). I have never done this code though so e-mail me if it is wrong.
UPDATE: Thanks to Master Ace who has found the code to get Poison to come on in the Dreamcast version! To get Poison to come on and taunt, hold UP and press HP and HK together. You can do this as many times as you want. Basically, for the best results, hold UP to make Hugo jump and as he lands press HK and HP then.
28) What does Maki have on her feet in Final Fight 2?
It seems to be some brown socks. She definitely isn't bare foot because her toes haven't been drawn on any frame of her animations. It's kind of like the same socks Mai wears in the King of Fighters games. In Capcom Vs. SNK 2 Capcom gave her proper Nike sneakers to get around this problem.
29) Why is Final Fight Revenge so rare?
If you are talking about the Saturn version, this is because it was a Japanese only release, meaning copies were very limited, but the other main reason is that it was the last ever SEGA Saturn game, meaning that many other people who aren't Final Fight fans just want it because it was the last game ever made for SEGA's 32 bit machine. The arcade version is also hard to find because it was so unpopular many machines were pulled from arcades and scrapped or converted to play something else.
30) Who is your favourite Final Fight character?
Guy, Maki or Haggar. It's probabaly Guy in the end because he's awesome in every game he is in and I always choose him because he 0wns. I like Final Fight 3 Haggar a lot because he has some of the best throws ever, and Maki is really good on Capcom vs. SNK 2. Rolento is pretty handy as well but I think Guy is the best.
31) Why do you have a message board and a forum?
Because if you can't be bothered to sign up to the forum (you really should though) then you can just use the message board and see if anyone else bothers replying.
