Indian Armed Forces have guarded the boundaries of our country India since independence. In war army along with navy and airforce have defended the country against external aggression. During peacetime The Armed Forces have to be in a continuous active process of training for any emergency and have to assist the Government in maintenance of internal security.
To fulfill the primary role the Army, Navy and Air Force have been divided into several branches or departments. Those which are required to go in close combat with the enemy on land, on the seas and in the air form the combat elements. Those who support these troops in combat are called supporting arms. The supporting services carry on administrative and supply jobs. The Armed Forces also provide immediate and effective help to people during natural or man-made calamities. They can provide helicopters, boats, medical help and large-scale rescue operations.
