Trowa Barton
Trowa Barton is one of the
Gundams. He pilots Gundam Heavyarms. Trowa is of American
descent, and appears to be very disciplined and very fearless. He
poses as a carnival acrobatic clown.
As far as Heavyarms go, it is
capable of doing quite a good amount of damage until it runs out
of ammunition.
Abilities:
Training: All the Gundams have
been trained quite excessively in the arts of warfare.
Equipment:
Chest Miniguns: A
triple-minigun setup in the chest.
Dual Machine Cannons: All the
Gundams have these dual Machine Cannons.
Dual Vulcans: All Gundams have
these dual Vulcan cannons.
Forearm Blades: Trowa's only
real hand-to-hand weapon, these small forearm blades nonetheless
are capable of cutting up Leos. Their short range is a
limitation, however. These are also known as "Army
Knives".
Forearm Minigun Shield: A
shield fused with a minigun that is detached when it runs out of
ammo. The minigun gives the arm more weight and is the source of
the name "Heavyarms". Those who hijack or borrow
Trowa's mech will have to get used to manually compensating for
the weight, as Trowa didn't automatically adjust the arm's
movement for the weight so he could have a speed edge (automatic
is not as good as manual).
Leg Micromissiles: Trowa has 24
micro-missiles in compartments on his leg. The upgraded Heavyarms
Custom has 56.
Shoulder-Mounted Shoulder
Missiles: Trowa has 6 shoulder-mounted homing missiles. While
very good against Leos and other regular mobile suits, Zechs
Marquise is perfectly capable of dodging them in the Tallgeese.
Potential Upgrades:
All the Gundams are pragmatic and see
their weaknesses. Trowa runs out of ammo quickly and then becomes
a fairly easy enemy to defeat by Gundam standards. Thus, the
upgrades he will be interested in will attempt to alleviate this
problem, as well as augment his strengths.
- Dimensional clips. Whether magical
or technological, Trowa will like this idea, as it
provides the potential to increase carry capacity by 10
times with no additional weight! In addition, magical
super-light features and shrinking will enable him to
carry more bullets and missiles conventionally.
- An energy backup for his minigun.
Trowa would like the edge of surprise that having a
conventional minigun turn on a secondary, laser minigun
feature! It would also make his minigun forearm shield
more useful and allow him to detach it less.
- Railgun or gauss accelerations with
switches. There is little evidence to assume that the
Gundams are railgun accelerated; perhaps such technology
was not in the realm of the Gundam designers. There is no
evidence to assume gauss acceleration. Such upgrades can
increase a minigun's efficiency by 10 times without
requiring any more ammo.
- Trowa might be interested in a
Recallable (teleporting) energy sword of some type.
- He might want to get his Army
Knives vibro, ion or plasma cutting capacities. They are
already made of sharpened gundanium, meaning that there
is little he can do in the way of upgrading the material.
- Automatic repair of some type,
probably nanorobotic. All Gundams will be especially
interested in such a thing, as it cuts down on repair
time and allows minor dents and scratches to be repaired
in the midst of a battle (as most conventional weapons
will indeed only dent the Gundams).
- Direct neural linkup, although he
will probably still want to have his body use the pedals
(keep in shape). All the Gundams will be interested in
direct neural linkup to the armor. Perhaps even VR
(Virtual Reality) controlling from a distance, like they
do on the Rifts Moon and in the NGR! Remember that the
system developed in GW that we see on the Wing Zero is
only partial: it influences the warrior and expands his
capacities, but is not a complete fusion.
- Conventional cloaking. All the
Gundams can see the beauty in being unseen. I believe
that Heavyarms already has a sort of white-noise
generator, but apparently only Deathscythe has that.
Anyone know? siva69@hotmail.com, per usual.
- Teleportation. Remember that
Heavyarms must often waste ammunition to get to a
strategic point. Teleporting in would be so much simpler.
- Protoculture backup power. Of
course the backup power is always useful, but the
protoculture also develops a symbiotic relationship
between the robot and the pilot! This is what gives
Veritechs advantages over Rifts robots.
- Iron Curtain. If Trowa could rush
madly through enemy obstacles without taking damage, he
could cut down on his ammunition costs. He could also
take time to aim better if he activated it when he was
firing.
- Enhanced hydraulics. The Gundams
appear to be pretty good at hand-to-hand, but they could
definitely improve. Extending arms could enable enhanced
point-blank firing and HTH combat, better hand-to-hand
means less bullets, and jumping is harder to detect and
more silent than flight
- Transformable mech. Just because Hiro
already has the capacity to transform his mech
doesnt mean Troa doesnt like the idea as
well. He might also want a sort of hover tank
transformation.
- Forcefields, preferably a combat
forcefield. All the Gundams will be interested in this
opportunity to enhance their defenses, and combat
forcefields offers an advantage in HTH combat.
- Enhanced sensory capacity. All Gundams
will be interested in TW and technological sensory
capacities that they don't have. Trowa will be especially
interested in sensory capacities enabling him to guess
strategic spots to attack.
- Sound diffusion, ala Rifts™ or
Batman Beyond™. Silence for a mech is strange, but
could be used in combination with other systems to avoid
detection. Remember that there are essentially two types
of invisibility: types that take advantage of human
weaknesses, and types that take advantage of machine
weaknesses. This is more of the first type, although it
would help avoid audio pickup.
- Superlight systems. Remember that
Heavyarms is called that for a reason, and it could
enhance Trowa's combat speed by having his heavy minigun
arm move that much quicker.
- Techno-wizard modifications of all types.
Trowa might be interested in auxillary offensive spells
(i.e. Fireball or Call Lightning), and he would
definitely be interested in features like Chameleon,
Invisibility Superior, Armor of Ithan, Shadow Meld, and
so on. Some things are pretty useless; Breathe without
Air would just be an auxillary system and would be a
second interest, Swim like the Fish could be done
technologically anyway, and so on.
- Perhaps more weapons hidden in convenient
spots: additional blades in the knee, elbows, and so on;
palm energy blasters; eye lasers.
- A combat computer could be useful,
although Trowa will definitely want to keep a level of
control.
- A sort of Alpha Strike or LAWLO system
could be used, as Trowa can see the advantage in
pummeling one enemy to smithereens, especially with this
new All-Monster character capable of withstanding
destruction to the nth degree. not to mention the
Avatars!
- Hologram projector. All the Gundams would
like this inexpensive, small device that enables them to
control what their enemy sees!
- Identification
Scrambler. All the Gundams will like
the capacity to trick their enemies.
- Scouter systems. All the Gundams will be
amazed at the new superhumans who can destroy a Gundam
outside of a mech! Being able to see these dangers before
they come and avoiding them can be a major help.
- Techno-Gauge.
The Gundams will want the capacity to see their enemy's
true technological prowess, as they aren't the big boys
anymore (their weaponry having been surpassed by the Zero
Armor of 000 and such).
- Heatsink
Blaster Upgrades will be another way to exacerbate
Trowa's problem with ammo loss. All the Gundams will
enjoy this enhanced effiency.
