Helsing Investigations

Owned by: JP

Ray Helsing lives and works out of a tired looking two floor brownstone in the run down center of town. Some day his neighborhood might be gentrified, but until then it's full of people holding on the best that they can and hoping that they don't get rolled for their social security checks.

The first floor is office space. There is a small, brass sign near the front door declaring this to be "Helsing Investigations". Inside the airy front windows, Gertrude keeps her plants and sits. Getrude is a woman, in her mid-50s, who runs the front desk, answers the phones and takes care of the office. During the day, when she's not busy she knits or reads the paper. She has an awful lot of free time. Behind the reception area are the three offices, a conference room, bathrooms and a small kitchen. There's a utility room that has been filled with file cabinets, copier, and fax machine. There is a computer on Gertrude's desk and another in Ray's office. The other two offices are unused.

Everything was cleaned up after the problems with the radical right anti-supernatural element last week. Getrude exercised a flair for interior decorating and the office looks much more professional with her touches. Ray's bank account is the lighter for it.

The second floor is the Helsing home. This was also recently trashed, but Ray was able to get things mostly presentable again. The high points on the second floor are the gourmet kitchen, master bedroom, guest room, library and home office. The library hid Ray's father's hidden armory of weapons. This needs a lot of work to be more than liveable again. For the most part, his father's library of novels survived. Ray didn't care whether the Lovecraft or any of that crap survived, but he was happy to see the Hammett and Chandler survived unscathed. There were also a large assortments of pulps from the 20s, both American and English, that had graced the bookcases.

The basement is a clutter of junk in one area with the washer, dryer, and Ray's father's wood shop in the other. There's also an attic crawl space full of old christmas decorations and other seasonal crap.
