First Lutheran Church of Sanctuary

Location: Pleasant Ave. between Hwy. 9 and 302 (Map)

Denomination/Affiliation: Lutheran

Priest in Charge: Pastor Adam Kessler and Pastor Scott Masterson

Description/Notes: Actually the only Lutheran Church in Sanctuary, First Lutheran therefore has an eclectic group of parishioners. Among these have been several well-off members of the Sanctuary community that have provided a nice, but not ostentatious, facility.

The Pastor Kessler is fairly young, only 45. He moved to Sanctuary 10 years ago after his wife's death and started as assistant pastor. Three years ago, the previous head pastor retired, and Adam was asked to take his place. He truly loves his job and the people in his church. He makes an effort to be involved with everyone, including the kids at the K-House. Occasionally, he'll give Patricia a night off and fix the kids dinner and take them to the movies. Kessler's most notable features are his prematurely gray hair and sea-blue eyes.

Pastor Masterson-- Put a yuppie in a collar, and you've got Scott. He's aggressive and wired to the hilt. Scott truly believes that he has been called to the ministry; he just wants to minister to the rich and influential. Sanctuary is a stepping stone to head pastor at that church, where ever it might be. He has given up hope on becoming head pastor here since Pastor Kessler is so young. He's not waiting 20 years to be the big cheese. Scott is 31 and good-looking in a tanning salon/spa kind of way.
