My Donald Don was great. Even though we were both 'ailing,' we took good care of each other and managed to have a wonderful time anyway. Cooking and washing up were never such fun before! |
Les Arpents The terrace on the second floor (Europeans call it the first floor; ground floor is the rez-de-chaussée) opens from Don's kitchen. This flat is where I spent three glorious weeks! |
The Jet Lag Party My second night in France, Don gave a party for me, and we celebrated his birthday as well. It was great fun getting to know his friends! (left to right: standing: Sab, Muddy, Linda; kneeling: Jacky) |
The Boulangerie
At Place Anatole France, a five-to-ten minute walk from Don's flat, there were a pharmacy, a florist, a tobacconist, and a boulangerie, among other businesses. My favorite bread was the céréale. |
At the Restaurant My second weekend in France, Don and I (along with Sab, Jessica, Vita, and Dave) had lunch at a Chinese restaurant in Vigneux. It was a lovely afternoon, and the food was delicious. |
The Rainbow On my last Sunday in Vigneux, we enjoyed a lovely déjeuner followed by thunderstorms that ushered in a couple of weeks' worth of less-than-pleasant weather. On one of those afternoons before my return to the US, I noticed that it was raining while the sun was shining. Don huriedly sent me to the opposite side of the house, where he had very generously hung a perfect double rainbow for me. You can't see the upper rainbow here, but maybe you can see where the shading changes... |
