My Virtual Photo AlbumParis (1) |
My First Glimpse of Paris Until June 28, 2000, I didn't know that St. Eustache existed. This was the first thing I saw when I came up from the train station at Les Halles. Just the first of many spectacular sights I'd see in Paris. |
Art Is Everywhere! Walking in the rue Montorgeuil (immortalized by Monet in a picture showing hundreds of French flags flying from windows), I saw vivid color everywhere--in the storefronts, in the fish/seafood shops, in the fruit/vegetable markets...and in murals on walls and garage doors, like this one. |
The Streets of Paris
The streets of Paris are fascinating... so many different things to see. Some are broad boulevards, and others are narrow wisps that twist and turn among the ancient buildings. |
Notre Dame de Paris What a magnificent work of architectural art! Absolutely beautiful! And standing in front of the cathedral; looking at the saints and gargoyles and rose windows; listening to the bells; you can almost feel the hundreds and hundreds of years slipping away... |
Le Jardin du Roi To bring a lovely afternoon in Paris to a close, we chose dinner from the 50-francs menu at Le Jardin du Roi in rue de la Huchette in the Quartier Latin. The service was excellent; the food was good; and the atmosphere was incomparable. |
From the Rooftop One of the few buildings I actually entered in Paris was La Samaritaine, a huge department store with several floors. Up on the roof is a cafe and a panoramic view of the city. |
