September 2003

On August 19th, the creator of these pages was lost to a work related accident. This entry will be the final entry into the Holonet News Service.

At the request of his mother, Pam and I have been able to legally gain access to the site and are now maintaining it for the future. We will continue to keep as much of Mark's format as possible, while adding items that we think Mark would have approved of. We will pass the ideas around the room and allow his mother to have final say over things posted on the site. I will continue to update photos and add new photos as well. A marker has been placed on Page 9 after the last image that Mark placed on the site. Marks image has been highlighted to indicate a Memorial State of Remembrance. Mark was very passionate about this site and I hope that I live up to his expectations. Mark, thanks for starting something that is enjoyed by many.

A copy of his obituary follows.

July 2003 News
I've been a regular in Star Wars Chat since 1997 when I used the chat name 'enonymouse.' I have maintained this site for a long time. I've never asked for a thing from anybody to do it. I'm not going to now. Except now someone has STOLEN my idea and MANY images from this site for their own personal use on a site with a crude copy of my idea.
I have sent notice to this individual that he should stop doing this. I've let him know that the people who have sent me their pictures trusted ME with their images, NOT HIM. I sincerely doubt he went around to all of you and asked if he could take your images. If he did, whoopie!  He didn't ask me if he could take over.
This site posts chatters in the Star Wars Room and will continue to do so for as long as it stays online. Hopefully, I'll be the one running it, too. Most of you should know that the OLD regs of Star Wars chat are NOT GONE but continue to visit, lurk, and pop in randomly from time to time to see how their room is going.
I say "their room" because they were THERE at the beginning and made it a regular room in Yahoo!
They're not always happy at the crap that goes on there. Neither am I, but that's chat. That's life.
Anyway. Obviously I'm pissed off that someone would steal my idea and I'm only hearing about it now.
I didn't work this long on this site for my health: I did it so people could see who they were talking to.
I mean, who else can say that they've listed almost 200 people, updated dozens of others (regularly) and always within 24 hours of receiving images for over three years?
I've worked hard to build this site. This has been a fun thing for me to do. I want to keep doing it.
DO NOT STEAL FROM ME.

I got pissed off, but Tony and I have talked about it. It's no biggie. I
just felt like I was getting shafted when I said someone could link to
the site but instead they did something similiar to my site on theirs.
It's fine. Show me ONE person that doesn't get over-protective about
their little corner of the 'Net and I'll show you someone who doesn't
give a shit about the people they are posting for.

So sue me. I give a shit. :D

-Mark

May 2003 News

Star Wars Galaxies(only a YEAR late) is scheduled for a June 2003 release.
For those of you still in hibernation awaiting this eagerly anticipated game, that's next month.
Hopefully, I'll have a new computer by the end of this month so I can play it.
'Fraid the ol' 333mhz won't cut it anymore.

March 2003 News

OK, this is the week I'm gone folks. So don't expect an update until the end of March.
Please keep hate mail to a minimum.
Remember, the Emperor is very displeased with my
apparent lack of brocolli.

February 2003 News

If you ever check the surveys at www.theforce.com - you might have seen one recently that was
really funny. It basically asked why The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers had made more
money (in such a short time) than Episode II: Attack of the Clones and the answer, by an OVERWHELMING
majority, was that it was "a better movie" (and not because it had better marketing or opened
in more theatres, and had a better release date, etc.) Very funny stuff. They also had a survey that
rated "Kit Fisto" as the fan's favorite new Jedi character (hehe, kewl!).
Heh. Those fans sure are smart! Great taste, too.

I'll be out of the office the last week of March 2003 so please don't expect any updates or additions
within the usual 24 hours. I'll get everything updated when I get back, though, if anyone happens
to submit pictures during that time.

December 2002 News

The Star Wars Room Chatters' Page
turns THREE years old this month. Thank you, everyone, for making
it the most popular site (based on hits per month) of any site that I've ever made before.
Read below some of the ratings the site has received in the past few years...

****

January 2002 News

Rated A++ by people who log onto my computer without my permission
Seen as a source of constant amusement by people who laugh a lot
Overwhelmingly, and by far, the most authoritative site for updated pics of ME (kind of)
Still considered to be a 'non-issue' by LucasFilm LTD and a 'negative threat domain' by Lucas' lawyers
Begrudgingly admitted to being superior to other chat room picture pages
by people who really don't want to argue the point any further, dammit
Halfassedly boasts to being one of the few places anywhere that has the entire
"Star Whores" parody hidden away on the site

November 2002 News
Looking to move up in the world? Or at least move up in the Star Wars Chatters' page?
I've been tidying up the site and moving a few things around and there's some open spots
on a few pages if people want to move their pictures to a new location.
First come, first serve, based on availability, yada yada yada (or should that be 'Yoda?').
Anyway, get 'em while they're hot. Otherwise I'll just post new submissions in random spots as the mood
strikes me. Also, if it's not too much trouble, if you're sending in an UPDATED pic, try and let me know
that it is an update in your email message. Cuz, um, heh, I've been known to post double pics of people without
realizing it. (red face) This causes a lot of giggling around the chat water fountain, I'm sure, heh, but it makes me look
stupid... And I do NOT need anyone's help with that. :D

October 2002 News
Hi all. I updated the Yuuzhan Vong Dead Pool page: added new picks for the last year of
The New Jedi Order book series and a few winners (survivors), etc.
I added several pictures today, one that unfortunately laid idle
for far too long and I hadn't noticed it. My apologies again for that.
Star Wars Galaxies (delayed over a year from the initial release date) should be out in the first or second quarter of
next year (if you believe the rumors, and I don't). Personally, I'm more excited about The Sims Online.
I thought the news of Lucasfilm ratting out their little 'spy' who stole over $250,000 worth of Lucasfilm property
was interesting. Especially the fact that they wanted to blame him for turning over the
unfinished (but viewable) version of Episode II to "ain't it cool news." Unfortunately, they haven't as yet been able
to prove that he did that or connect him to it. If Lucasfilm didn't do it themselves, then they probably set the
poor shmuck up to do it, because that was pure diabolical advertising genius. I'm tellin' yah, George Lucas is a Sith Lord.

September 2002 News
I haven't had a flurry of complaints about the site, but I suppose a word of mention is necessary.
Look, guys, I work at UPS and I'm not a webpage designer, ok? I just do this site for fun.
And if the site is featureless, frameless, windowless, and buttonless and, for the most part, Java-less, I'm sorry.
It's primitive (though, I prefer the term unimodal) nature allows it to be portable to
multiple operating systems and lots of different browsers.
That's a REALLY good excuse for me to remain in the Dark Ages as far as webmastering goes.
But look, I'm thinking of changing a few things.
Hopefully we'll see a more interesting site pop up in the next few weeks.
However, like I said, this isn't even a day job. It's a hobby.
I love doing it, and I hope all of you enjoy it as much as I do.
If only chatting held my interest as much... hahaha.

****
This is such a no-brainer I'm almost tempted to not even write about it... Almost.

Someone tried this week, (07, 16, 02), to submit a photo, (I won't go mentioning names), SEVEN times.
The attachment they sent, (SEVEN times), was a partial file that wouldn't open using anything.
(I won't even bother listing all of the graphics editors I have on my system, it would be embarrassing.)
Worse still, when I tried to let them know they needed to resubmit a *working* file type,
(ie. JPEG preferably or ANYTHING I can see to convert to JPEG),
their email address that they JUST used to send the pic SEVEN TIMES, (did I mention that?),
came back as non-existent. And they didn't even tell me what chat alias they use in the chat room so
I can go and find them and tell them to re-read "Email for Dummies." I just have a first name and I'm
NOT going to tell "Jessie" publicly that whoever, (Mike Dant), tried to send her photo, FAILED to do it correctly.
As that would be rude. ;)
And no, there didn't seem to be a virus attached to it, as that would have brought forth the Dark Side.

July 2002 News
Usually, when I update or add someone's picture to the site I *try* to send them an email
letting them know it's been done and the proper link where they can witness their greatness online.
The only times I don't are when 1) I'm really, really lazy and I forget to do it, or 2) I'm such a nerf herder
that I deleted your email accidentally after saving your picture and lost your return email address
(this is true for someone who posted their picture recently) or 3) there really isn't a third reason, it's always
the first one, actually. Rarely, if ever, the second one. But things sound soooo much better in three's, don't they?;)

Those of you that know you know me, (as opposed to those of you that think you do),know that I have a
devilish, (some might say, degenerate), streak, (more like a canyon, really), in me. For those of you that are fans
of this streak,(in its WRITTEN form, mind you), you will be happy to know that I am in the process of adding the next
three installments to the Star Whores saga, (loosely based on AoTC). Coming to a galaxy soon, and, (oddly enough)
hosted by *THIS* very site, (though hidden away somewhere). Look for it soon, and hell, try looking for it at all.;)

****
June 2002 News
I updated the site a bit, streamlining the images so that their file sizes weren't so big.
Things should load faster for those of us with slower connection speeds. Also, I added
a new page for the site *news* since it really is only me babbling on about useless stuff of
very little relevance to anyone else. ;) Plus, it was taking up A LOT of space on the index.

May 2002 News
It's OUT, and it's AWESOME. Go see it a couple times before you decide what you think...

April 2002 News
Three weeks left... If you're a conspiracy theorist like me, then you probably have already discerned
that the 'sneak peek' article in "Ain't it Cool? News" about Star Wars Episode II was nothing
more than LucasFilm propaganda to get the mainstream fans excited about the movie and give them some
faith to believe things are going to get better and not worse... I mean, there wasn't anything new there.
No real spoilers. Everything mentioned has already been alluded to on the Star Wars site
or could be gleaned from available trailers. That smells of propaganda. To me. But I'm like that.

If you are like me then you've sat through other movies for almost a year now and every time
you've seen an Episode II trailer you've closed your eyes and quietly prayed,
"Please, don't suck. Please don't suck!"
Still, it seems the opinions expressed in that article were confirmed in a new
Time Magazine article dedicated to Star Wars and Darth Lucas.
Maybe all those prayers haven't been in vain.
Personally, though, I think Episode II will rule the Summer. Go Kit Fisto!!!

This site has been around for over TWO years!

My thanks to everyone that has contributed their image to make this site actually fulfill the purpose of it's creation.

Without you, this site would just have pictures of me everywhere.

December 2001 News
N'Sync manages to find their way to a Galaxy far, far away.
Of all the people that wanted to go there, I NEVER would have expected them to make it.
George, my level of respect for you is seriously in question. Doubts are rampant.

November 2001 News
I used to have a soft spot in my heart for hackers. The pranksters.
The good humored ones that aren't interested in hurting innocent people.
Just clever seekers of information, for no other purpose than the pursuit of knowledge and the honing of their craft...
My opinion now?
Hackers suck. They are little more than gutless vandals with cans of digital spraypaint and nothing better to do.
I'll make sure to vote AGAINST any future bills that would in any way protect them.
They all deserve time in prison: sodomized and squashed under groups of fat, sweaty multiple felons.

October 2001 News
The site moved to this new location until the old location is un-hacked.
I apologize for that, and I'm frankly amazed that anyone would waste their
time doing it in the first place.
I'm not Inspector Gadget. I'll let Yahoo! deal with it.

August 2001 News
The title to Episode II has been announced. See if you can guess which one it is...
"Episode II: The Clone Wars"
"Episode II: Rise of the Sith"
"Episode II: Who's Yer Daddy?"
"Episode II: Attack of the Clones"

I know. I know. Reminds me of the first time I heard that the title of 'Episode I' would be "The Phantom Menace."

I wanna see you all there.
