Transporters - Various Decks

View of Main Transporter Room

The Main Transporter Room on USS Iliad is situated on Deck 6, along with Transporter Rooms 2, 3 and 4. There are however many transporters on the ship, most are not set up for transporting lifeforms although can be modified for this purpose.

Rooms 1 to 4 are situated close to each other with turbo lifts also in close proximity so as to allow for speedy access around the ship. There are two other personnel transporters in the stardrive section on deck 14.

There are further transporter pads in the cargo bays and also on the shuttles which are stationed aboard Iliad.

As well as the normal transporters there are also six emergency transporters, four in the saucer section and two in the stardrive section. These can only be used for beaming personnel off the ship, not aboard as they are fitted with scan only phase transition coils. They are designed to operate at low power only and have a range of just 15,000km whereas the main transporters can beam in both directions over a range of up to 40,000km.

The Main Transporter has the standard six places for the crew to stand on awaiting beam out. The most conventional way to beam out is with the person standing erect to allow for a formal greeting on materialisation. There are however occasions where a different posture will be necessary and there are no hard and fast rules on this.

The Transporter Room is one of the most important areas of the ship as it is the first room that an arriving dignatory may see.
