JULIE NEWMAR
“Of Late I Think of Cliffordsville”
Miss Devlin has got a deal for you. The marvelous Julie Newmar portrays her with a one-of-a-kind performance in a dime-a-dozen role. We have seen it at least twice in variations in other T-Zone episodes. Moreover, other television shows have used this plot with success ad nauseam. Ned Flanders comes to mind with a performance of the Devil in a Halloween episode of “The Simpsons.” Robert Englund was a funny Devil on “Married with Children.” In film, Elizabeth Hurley was a sexy devil in “Bedazzled.” Of all the television shows and films I have seen using this theme, Miss Newmar is most memorable in her portrayal here. Yeah, she does not have much screen time here, I know. Who cares? She is simply fabulous here and as this is one of the rare one-hour episodes, we hold Miss Newmar high. She also has the distinction of being the only actress to make both of my top ten lists. Julie Newmar has been a unique presence in Hollywood for a long time. I hope someone finds a vehicle she can carry. She deserves it.
