Chapter 7
The next morning, a figure stood on top of a mountain watching the large party gather their belongings and set out on the next stage of their journey. The strong wind whipped the long cloak and thick violet hair around. The cloak was black, contrasting with the early morning sun, and the blue eyes had a dark, evil glint to them that had never been there before.
A slight chuckle escaped the figures lips. "Ahh. Yes, they will know my whereabouts soon enough." Clef stepped off the pinnacle into the thin air and levetated there. His cloaks swirled about menacingly, and he gathered the raw energy from the air and let it form into a massive electrigying ball. Raising it above his head, he threw it down into the riding party that was below him. A large flash of light signaled the explosion, followed by a billowing cloud of smoke. Clef slowly floated down to survey the damage.
As the smoke cleared, Clef floated with a dazed look on his face. All of the members of the party were unharmed, and in the center were two figures. Ascot and Emerria were holding up a strong energy barrier, and everyone else who had a sword were around them with their weapons drawn.
"I see.... I underestimated you." Clef said as he floated down to the ground. He raised another energy blast, but again it was deflected.
Emerria stepped up to face the familiar figure. "Clef! Why are you doing this?!" she yelled at him as he prepared another blast.
"I am doing it for my master." Clef said automatically. The blast he had prepared hit Emerria straight in the stomach, and she was shoved backwards into Eagle. Clef chuckled as he saw Emerria struggle to get up. Suddenly, a strong magical barrier was errected and Clef looked scornfully at Ascot. The tall boy scowled back and then looked worriedly over to Umi and the rest of the search party.
"You know, this really was meant to only be a warning." Clef said as he floated away from the large group of his friends. "My master and I are preparing to obliterate the universe. We thought that we should give you sufficent time to prepare." He looked down to see Emerria still in Eagle's arms but struggling to get out, her arms flailing wildly at him. A vague wail could be heard from his vantage point high in the air. The dark face scowled and the black cloaks shuddered in the wind, but deep in his heart, a subdued and broken voice was wailing and screaming.
