Green Belt (north)

 

"Green Belt" was another Letchworth innovation - and here is a prime bit of it, separating Letchworth from Stotfold, Arlseley (which just sneeks into the top left of the picture), and Bedfordshire in general.

Letchworth - an otherwise small town in north Hertfordshire, England - is famous as being the world's first "Garden City", being founded in 1903 by Ebenezer Howard. Many social and planning innovations that we take for granted today first appeared in Letchworth.
