At the centre of this view is Standalone Farm - another piece
of the pre-Garden City estate, and now an "open" farm where visitors
from far afield (even London) come to see a fully working farm in action.
Letchworth's biggest "tourist" site it features pigs, sheep, goats,
cows, hens, ducks - sand of course Sam and Webster the shire horses. |
Letchworth - an otherwise small town in north Hertfordshire, England - is famous as being the world's first "Garden City", being founded in 1903 by Ebenezer Howard. Many social and planning innovations that we take for granted today first appeared in Letchworth. For more information on the town see here. |
