He dominated the field with a record setting 14:54. Christian finished second in a very strong 15:15. Columbus North wins the meet with a low score of 53. CN time gap 1-5 was 64 seconds as their top 5 placed 2-22nd. The Millers were led by Robbie with a time of 16:46. Peyton followed in 80th with a season's best of 17:06, as was Kevin's 17:09, other scorers were Alex in 17:35 and Mitch in 17:36. Regional @ Chinquapin Ridge, Noblesville 10/19 It was a great day for fans and runners at the IHSAA Regional Chinquapin Ridge CC course at Noblesville. A huge crowd of over 1500 people enjoyed outstanding racing in both the boys and girls events. Katie Harrington set a course record of 14:34 to earn the regional individual crown for the girls 4K. Matt Kotlarski got another individual win and led the Greyhounds to a narrow victory over HSE 38-40. Kotlarski led from the gun to the chute but had company the entire course. Challenged by two outstanding freshmen: Brock Hagerman of Pendleton Hts. and Justin Roeder of HSE, Kotlarski needed a solid last 800 meters to pull out the win. The Millers turned in another strong team effort with a 24 second gap with the top 5 runners. Again it was the duo of Peyton and Robbie leading the way in 19th and 22nds place, followed by Mitch(24th), Kevin (25th) and Alex (32nd). The Millers are headed to the semi-state for the 17th consecutive year. Matt Kotlarski led Carmel to another Sectional Victory as the Greyhounds displayed their usual patience on their home course. Obviously, the home course advantage enabled them to remain steady through the entire race and score six guys in the top ten. The Millers finished a strong second. Peyton and Robbie led the Millers with all-sectional places in 11th and 12th. Colin had a breakthrough race with a 16th place finish, Kevin placed 18th, Mitch 19th, Alex 23rd and John 26th. Our 1-5 split was the best of the year at 30 seconds and our top seven split was 47 seconds.
Check-out Elementary CC Meet Information October 12th Hoosier Crossroads Conference 10/5, Noblesville A beautiful fall cross country day greeted the runners of a very fast Chinaquin Ridge CC course. Finally, some good CC running weather! Freshmen Justin Roeder ran away from the field to post a solid 16:22 for the win. HSE dominated the team race placing 7 in the top ten and scoring a low 22 pts. The Millers battled to a second place finish again this year. Robbie (12th) became the first Miller to go under 17:00 at 16:58. Peyton and Mitch were also all-conference in 14th and 15th. Kevin passed 6 guys in the last 600 to finish 20th and John completed the scoring in 25th. Columbus North is for real. Christian Wagner is very fun to watch, as he lead the #1 ranked team with a 15:14 final time. Christian took the pace out with a 4:42 mile and never looked back. Supported by Ryan Hutton in 2nd with a 16:02 North is obviously enjoying the season with these front runners. Their 3rd-7th men ran 16:31-16:39, some pack!!!! The Millers are still looking for their first sub 17:00 minute runner, although Robbie got close with a 17:02 for 15th place. Season's best times by Alex (18th, 17:22) and Mitch (23rd, 17:35) helped establish a stronger front pack. Still the Millers (running without Peyton) only managed a 4th place overall team finish. Westfield Candy Bar Invitational 9/21 Franklin Central dominated today's meet placing 6 in the top ten, while Justin Mason of Cathedral was the individual winner in at time on 16:45 on the wet, soft Chinquapin Ridge NHS CC Course. Mason and Devin Seguin battled the entire course until the last 300 as Mason edged ahead, with Tim Clark of Franklin Central splitting the two in the last 200 meters. The Millers continued their up and down racing as today's top 5 runners again was mixed in their overall performances. Peyton and Robbie continue to lead the team in 15th and 16th overall. Mitch improved to third man after running JV at the BD invite on Tuesday. The Millers placed 10th in the prestigiuous 23 team BD Invite yesterday.Seven of the top nine schools are ranked in the top 20. Carmel and Lawrence North finished first and second with a one point differential. The meet site was moved back to BD after a 5 year hiatus to Southeastway Park. For you old timers the course is nothing like the previous 5K layout. Noblesville was once again led by Peyton in 44th place, followed by Robbie in 57th. If we are to catch the teams ahead of us we will need to close the gap with the lead runners.Thevis Invitational 9/17 Millers Bounce Back--After an embarassing Hamilton County Meet on Tuesday the Millers regrouped to place 2nd in the Marion Invite. Although Marion won the meet, a team the Millers outran in the Warren Hokum, the Millers grouped up for a 38 second split in the 1-5 time gap. Led by Peyton and Robbie in the 9th and 10 finish position the Millers tied Dekalb for second and won on the tie-breaker 6th man. Actually, even our seventh man outran Dekalb's 6th runner. Earning ribbons in the top twenty included: John 15th, Alex 16th and Nathan 19th. Pat placed 24th and Mitch 30th. The Millers are off until the Ben Davis Invitational. Last weekend HSE defeated Carmel at the Rushville Invite by three points. This set-up a great race at the County yesterday. Carmel won the meet followed by HSE 30-40. It was very close the entire way, atlthough Carmel seemed to gain the upper hand just before the 3200. However, HSE remained strong and fighting for places in the last 1K. Noblesville ran as poorly yesterday as we did well on Saturday. Robbie cracked the top ten with his tenth place finish. Froshmen Mitch came thru as second man, and seventh man Pat ran third with a solid run. We need to regroup before Saturday's meet at Marion. Great weather, (upper 70's) for August allowed the top ten pairss in "AA" division and top two pairs in "A" to average better than 5:00 pace/mile. The Millers were very competitive, although somewhat disappointed with the overall team place of 7th. Our efforts placed two pairs in the top 20 for medals. John and Robbie placed 15th, with Alex and Peyton right behind in 19th. Our third pair of Kevin and Mitch just missed the medals in 23rd. With seven guys averaging between 5:04 and 5:17 we certainly are gaining confidence in our ability. Next up is the Hamilton County on Tuesday, varsity boys race at 5:50 with the jv running at 4:55. Nef Aria coasted to victory and led the Wildcats of Lawrence North to victory in the Brebeuf Invite. If you get the opportunity to watch last year's state champion run this year, don't miss it. He is awesome! We certainly wish him well. The final team scores are unofficial as of 8/29. Our third runner was omitted from the final results. This will make a thirty point difference in the team scores and move us up to at least 7th place and 200 points. I have discovered that at least two schools LN and Avon are listed with eight competing runners. So, it may take a while to run the Hy-tek scoring program to settele the results. Overall, I was pleased with our performances. We had a nice pack of runners going thru the mile together. Now if we can just continue this team running we can improve upon our 1-5 runner gap of 48 seconds and possibly become more competitive with the top teams. Opening day brought cooler weather for our first trip ever to the Plainfield Hokum Karum. Defending State Champions Franklin High School displayed a strong first pair in Wheeler and Campbell to win in a time of 30:27. Their second and third pairs placed 6th and 7th with a balanced attack. The Millers placed third in the 13 team meet behind the 8th place finish of Alex and John, followed in 11th place with Peyton and Kevin with Mitch and Kevin rounding out the scoring in 16th place. Our top five time gap was an encouraging 40 seconds. Forty-eight runners competed in the 16th Annual Alumni and Friends Race at Chinquapin Ridge on the 17th. Top Alumni finshers in the 4K Handicap were: Paul Slaughter 14:42, Scott Fihma 15:10, Chris Wheeler 16:02, Tom Green 16:25 and Eric Cunningham 17:39. Top parents and Parent Alumni finishers were: Steve Keelen 19:34, Vic Andrade 20:17 and Mark Sinders 20:30. Versailles Camp opens 2002 Season Our 17th annual Versailles camping trip opened the first week of the season Aug6-9th. Great weather greeted the 28 runners completing the camp.
