"Perhaps too much was expected of him, but New Zealander
Dion nash was a disappointment. He started well, with nine
wickets in his second game, against Hampshire, but his next
nine first-class matches brought him only 16 wickets at 48
apiece. His bowling looked up in August, when he took eight
against Durham, but his batting was even more disappointing:
some wondered whether he would have retained his place, had
he not been the overseas player. What must be borne in mind
is that Nash has had very limited experience for a 23-year-old.
In England, cricketers have a chance to play professionally
from their teens. Before joining Middlesex, Nash had made
ten Test appearances, but only 37 in first-class matches.
By comparison, Dominic Cork of Derbyshire, three months older
and not a dissimilar player, had 83 games under his belt.
Middlesex showed faith in Nash and renewed his contract, hoping
he would have learned form his first county season."

"Among the one-game players was overseas all-rounder Dion
Nash, who missed the beginning of the season because of New
Zealand's tour of the West Indies, though a back condition
kept him out of the Tests. It was still a problem when he
reached Lord's. He played against Sussex, bowling ten overs
and taking one for 44. His back was still painful and he did
not appear again. The county could not have done much more
in trying to discover exactly what the problem was. Untold
scans and X-rays failed to reveal anything specific; in June,
it was decided to terminate his contract and Nash returned
to New Zealand."
