Languages have always been a love of Bernice's. She believes
that they are a means of communication that can open up a
world of opportunities. Teaching is a way for her to assist
others to develop and enjoy practical skills that are applicable
to everyday life. Her aim is to foster a love of learning
and a feeling of achievement for all students whilst respecting
their individual differences.
Bernice has a Diploma of Teaching from the Southland Campus,
Dunedin College of Education. In 1997 she completed a Diploma
of Creative Writing with the New Zealand Institute of Business
Studies following receiving her Bachelor of Arts from Victoria
University. She has also participated in a Journalism Summer
School at the University of Canterbury.
Bernice's teaching experience began at Otago Girls' High
School where she taught French English and German as well
as taking charge of Clubs. In 2001 she moved to teach at Mount
Albert Grammar School where she taught English, French and
German.
In 1997 she became Sports Ambassador for the Hillary Commission
and was also a Netball Development Officer for the Southland
Netball Union. She has also been an Athletics coach at the
Wellington East Girls School. Bernice is currently Coachcorp
Manager for Sport Auckland.

1992 - 2002 New Zealand netball team (Captain 1997/ 2000/
2001)
1998 - 2001 Southern Sting (Captain) - Coca Cola Cup Champions
1999/2000/2001
1996 Wellington netball team
1995 - 96 P.I.C. netball team
1991 - 94 Canterbury netball team (Vice-Captain 1993/ 94)
1989 - 93 Athletics New Zealand emerging talent squad
