I played
the PC version of this game before I'd ever heard of the snes version.
I must say that I like the snes version a lot better; it just plays better.
I've always been skeptical of rts games on console systems, but Cannon
Fodder has given me hope. It's amazing how well you can control your small
squad of troops using a gamepad.
Graphics: (7/10) Okay, this is a tough decision
to make. The graphics really are pretty damn good, but the limitation
of snes makes everything look kinda blocky. The designers did a great
job, but the overall impression comes out a little short of beutiful.
Sound: (5/10) Uh.... really didn't like
the sound. It seemed a bit bland and neglected. The gunshots, explosions
and screams are all nicely done; but the music (when present) left much
to be desired. And what the hell is up with the recruitment scene music???
Fun: (7/10) I must admit the gameplay is
damn nice. If you hold down the fire button your entire squad starts unloading
with automatic fire "crack, pop, bang!" The bullets kinda scatter
around and launch enemies into the air bleeding and screaming. Press A
+ B to use your secondary weapons (nades!) and be careful!
Creativity: (7/10) Even attempting an rts
game on snes deserves a decent creativity score, b/c I'm sure it was difficult
to pull it off. They did a great job.
