Out of the
Lemmings mold comes a game with a new twist. Troddlers is similar to Lemmings
in that you are responsible for the lives of the little guys (in this
case troddlers). In troddlers you have no direct control over the troddlers
themselves. Instead you control a larger troddler-like creature who has
the power to create or destroy the blocks the troddlers walk on. Your
power is limited though, b/c all the blocks you use are stored in a bank
that you can take from or add to. You have to use your blocks to lead
the troddlers to the exit, without them getting killed.
Graphics: (7/10) There's nothing exceptional
about the graphics in Troddlers but I must note that everything is eye
pleasing. The backgrounds, the characters, even the side display. The
menu screens all have nice graphics and backgrounds. And win you beat
a level some nice looking fireworks go off on your screen. It's just nice.
Sound: (7/10) The one great thing about
the sound in Troddlers is that the music is really cool. There seems to
be a decent variety and it's all very happy music. As far as sound effect,
there's all totally decent. Every action you perform makes a sound (creating/destroying
blocks); and when you let your character fall asleep you can even hear
him snoring.
Fun: (8/10) What's fun about Troddlers?
Almost everything. The strategy involved really makes you think. The difficulty
increases at a steady rate so your sure to be challenged. It's hillarious
when your troddlers fall to their deaths or when you accidentally kill
them with your blocks. Also, the 2-player modes are great.
Creativity: (6/10) Troddlers takes a simple
concept and builds an entire game around it. Sure it's like Lemmings,
but it is different and it is a lot of fun.
Multi-Player:
2-player Troddlers is great. There are 2 different modes (Team & War)
and they're both great. The best part about War Mode is that if you win,
your opponent's skin dissolves and you see his skeleton.
Tips and Cheats: Know any more? Please send
them in! Thanks.
Errors: I didn't encounter any errors, though
some emulators may have trouble with the fireworks effects (but that won't
ruin the game).
