1. Wolfgang Josef and I had our first telephone conversation on Dec 25, 1997. He surprised me by sending a bouquet of flowers so I surprised him by giving him a ring to say thank you and also at the same time to greet him a Merry Christmas. He was shocked and also unprepared to have a live or an "on the spot" talk with me. He was not yet fluent in english at that time so you could imagine how nervous he was and how his translator became his immediate best friend. The talk lasted not more than five minutes. Until now, We still remember his first memorable line..."On January, I go to school and learn english"
2. On midnight of December 31, 1997, Wolfgang Josef called me up for the first time just to greet Happy New Year. This time, he was quite prepared. For sure, he wrote down all he've wanted to say. But he forgot that I've wanted to say something also. Good thing his translator was always by his side.
3. Wolfgang Josef is very much aware about our conservative culture. Without my knowledge, he secretly sent an airpost to my parents informing them about his intention to visit me. OK! OK! It's not really a good idea that a strange german guy will just pop out at our doorsteps and saying "here I am"! He surprised me by his gentlemanly gesture.
4. Few days before Wolfgang Josef's arrival, he informed me that he will be wearing a white shirt and the Filipino cap which I've sent him. Good thing, he was the only white man coming down from the stairs that's why I recognized him easily. He was wearing a cream shirt at that time because all his white shirts were inside his baggages.
5. When Wolfgang Josef made is first step on Philippine soil, he still had to look in his dictionary the meaning of "EXIT".
6. Normally, when a man will propose marriage...the scenario will always be romantic....candle light dinner and roses. But when Wolfgang Josef made his first serious proposal, he said it in JOLLIBEE. It's a popular hamburger fastfood in the Philippines ( a counterpart of McDonald).
7. Wolfgang Josef is a natural trooper. Once, we went in a karaoke bar together with some friends three days after his arrival. Right! A Star is born. He made his first public performance and surprised everybody by singing an Original Pilipino Music. Well he did not say that he learned the song few months back.
8 Wolfgang Josef is a typical coffee drinker. When he asked permission from my parents to marry me, he had to drink 3 cups more to lessen his nervouseness.
9. During our wedding ceremony, Wolfgang Josef hid in his pocket a little paper containing the words of our wedding vows. Despite that he's already very good in english, he's afraid that his nervouseness might give him mental block.
10.Our first night together will always be a memorable, unforgettable and a "hot" one. Wolfgang Josef filled our room with lots of red roses and candles. I was so surprised and so happy because he still found the time to do that. We hugged, we danced and suddenly....my veil was starting to burn! We were in panic because the fire was spreading so fast. We can't imagine burning the whole hotel on our wedding night. The "big hole" on my veil will always remind us our "hot" wedding night.
