Amos HARRILL was educated in the private schools sponsored by his father; Samuel HARRILL the father of his wife; William BAXTER, near the present town of Caroleen, N.C.
Amos was a democrat and represented the county in the General Assembly in 1856.
Served as treasurer of the county from 1858 to 1864.
Served for many years as Justice of the Peace.
Served some time as postmaster at Oak Springs, N.C.
