"SHED YOUR DISGUISE"

I was dying slowly everyday,
my life was upside down.
Hope had left me long ago,
no peace was ever found.

From the day my Mother brought me home,
and powdered up my butt.
To this very day, I can truly say,
my life's been in a rut.

I have walked this road without a friend,
I have walked this path alone.
And over time, through the grit and grime,
my emptiness has grown.

I sought love, where love could not be found,
I sought peace where battles rage.
I paced between the wrong and right,
like a lion in a cage.

The love I found was filled with hate,
my joy was filled with sorrow.
My inner peace was always left,
as a dream to chase tomorrow.

I have never known, just who I am,
I've never felt an ounce of pride.
I awake to Doctor Jekyll's voice,
go to sleep with Mr. Hyde's.

But then one day, I heard a different voice,
and it whispered in my ear.
"Shed your disguise, come walk with me,
your happiness is near".

"I'm the only friend you'll ever need,
I'm the joy you always seek".
"My strength will guide and lift you up,
when you're feeling low and weak".

"When your butt was powdered, I was there,
though your heart did not perceive".
"And I bring salvation to you now,
if you only will receive".

"I died for you, on a cross of wood,
for your sin I took the blame".
"I am the truth, I am the way,
and Jesus is my name".

"If you accept me in your heart today,
I will turn your life around".
"I will take you off that lonely path,
and launch you Heaven bound".

So I knelt beside my bed that night,
and with one simple prayer.
I found the peace that I had sought,
with the love that waited there.

I had always heard of this Jesus Christ,
I had always heard the buzz.
Though I didn't deserve the gift he gave,
he loved me just because.

So if your life is at an end,
and you fight those Jekyll's and Hyde's.
Please listen to that voice within,
It's where Jesus Christ resides.
