Claire Picture
Claire is mom to the rest of the dogs in the following pictures. You will often find her curled up with Lyra and Matt just about anywhere, including the top of my car!!! The first Vet said she was black lab, but my vet now agree she has some pit bull in her. She has the sweetest disposition and loves nothing more than curling up on my pillow beside me. hee hee. She showed up here at my house, middle of the Arizona desert, gaunt but very friendly. We soon found out she was VERY pregnant with pups, and later gave birth to 10 puppies!! I decided to keep her, and like the animal lover I am, decided to keep two of the pups also, which I named Lyra, as seen below, and Matt on the next page. The rest of the puppies all went to homes with families, with large fenced yards and lots of kids to play with. And again, if a new puppy didn't work out in their new home, I told the adults to bring the pups back to me, NOT to dump them, nor take them to a shelter! I'm a VERY picky dog mom when it comes to adopting out puppies born in my home. I'm not a breeder by any means. It just seems all pregnant dogs know my home is the best to come to for having their babies.........LOL

Lyra Picture
Lyra. One of the pups I kept from Claire's litter. Little did I know she would become the baby, since she ended up being at the bottom of my dog "pack". After the rest her sisters and brothers were adopted out, I felt so sorry for her, I let her climb into bed with me and sleep. She now thinks thats HER place, even when told no. She will lay down on the floor, but as soon as she can,.......hee hee, she is right up there next to me, belly up, wanting that tummy of hers scratched. With those tan markings above her eyes, she is able to give you those beagle type eyes that seem to say "awww me?" LOL.

In January of 2002, I had to move from my home in open desert on 4 acres. The home I moved to was in a small neighborhood just outside of town, a very small neighborhood of almost all retired, but wonderful people. The house I moved to was very small, but was only fenced 3/4's, and a very small yard. It was impossible to keep all 4 of my beloved dogs. The decision was hard, heartbreaking, but I had to make the decision to adopt out the 2 dogs that had the best chance of finding the best homes. Lyra and Claire were the most happy with people of all kinds, and could adapt well with a new family. They both went together, to a wonderful family together, which made me so happy! Kesha being so much older, many families aren't willing to adopt an older dog, and Matt, since birth, had been EXTREMELY shy around strangers, unusual surroundings, circumstances since birth. Everytime someone came to look at puppies from his litter, he ran and hid under my western porch. I made the decision to keep Kesha since she had been with me the longest, she had been with me even before my Bipolar Disorder has struck me so young, and had been with me through my bad times. Matt, (on the next page) I had worked with since a puppy, to trust me, and as he grew older, I started taking me with him everywhere, to acclimate him to riding in the car,(now just seeing his leash, or me putting my sunglasses on, even picking up my keys, drives him nuts!!) get used to people unusual surroundings, ect. Today, after alot of working with him, you would never know that he was once afraid of anything.
