In January of 2002, I had to move from my home in open desert on 4 acres. The home I moved to was in a small neighborhood just outside of town, a very small neighborhood of almost all retired, but wonderful people. The house I moved to was very small, but was only fenced 3/4's, and a very small yard. It was impossible to keep all 4 of my beloved dogs. The decision was hard, heartbreaking, but I had to make the decision to adopt out the 2 dogs that had the best chance of finding the best homes. Lyra and Claire were the most happy with people of all kinds, and could adapt well with a new family. They both went together, to a wonderful family together, which made me so happy! Kesha being so much older, many families aren't willing to adopt an older dog, and Matt, since birth, had been EXTREMELY shy around strangers, unusual surroundings, circumstances since birth. Everytime someone came to look at puppies from his litter, he ran and hid under my western porch. I made the decision to keep Kesha since she had been with me the longest, she had been with me even before my Bipolar Disorder has struck me so young, and had been with me through my bad times. Matt, (on the next page) I had worked with since a puppy, to trust me, and as he grew older, I started taking me with him everywhere, to acclimate him to riding in the car,(now just seeing his leash, or me putting my sunglasses on, even picking up my keys, drives him nuts!!) get used to people unusual surroundings, ect. Today, after alot of working with him, you would never know that he was once afraid of anything.
