The end of 2002 has come and the 2002/2003 tv season has just about come to the half way point. So to commenorate this joyous event, I would like to hand out some awards to the best and the worst of the season.

The Quickest New Implosion:  "Push, Nevada." The show premiered to 12.4mil viewers. It drew 4.1mil for its finale. What else is there to say? Runner-up "Birds of Prey."

The Quickest Returning Implosion:  "Just Shoot Me." The show has lost 57% of its audience from last season. Runner up: "The Drew Carey Show" at 46%.

The Biggest New Break Out:  "The Bachelor II." Since it did air last fall, I can count it here. It's increased its timeslot by an incredible 67% from last fall. Runners up: "CSI Miami" (57%); "8 Simple Rules" (38%) & "Hack" (37%)

The Biggest Old Break Out: "According To Jim." It's up 22% so far this season. Though "Scrubs" is up 47%, it's in a much cushier timeslot.

Timeslot Most Improved:  ABC, Friday 10pm. Runners up: WB, Sunday 8pm, ABC, Wednesday 9pm, CBS, Monday 10pm, ABC Tuesday 8:30pm.

Timeslot Most Ruined:  WB, Thursday 9pm. With "JKX" down 48% and "Off Centre" down 64% from "Charmed" last season, the WB is officially the owner of the newest ruined timeslot.

New Series Performance compared to last season:

13.0% (average) 6.2 16.1 -1.4 -6.0 -38.8

Most Changed Luck With New Series (for the worse): UPN. It's only new hit is "Half & Half," and even that's not averaging 300 points.

Most Changed Luck With New Series (for the better): CBS. Thanks to series like "Hack" and "CSI Miami," CBS has its best new crops of shows in a while.

Returning Series performance compared to last season:
 9.9% (average) -2.4 10.8 -8.0 24.0 -14.0

Most Changed Luck With Returning Series (for the worse):  UPN. Can it get any worse? This is the worst season since 1998/1999 when it lost a third of its audience.

Most Changed Luck With Returning Series (for the better):  ABC. While it's still down in the ratings compared to last season, at least its going in the right direction.
