Thundercats
Page 1

Okay, here's the place where you can get the inside info on all the original Thundercat team that journeyed together from Thundera to remote Third Earth.  Be forewarned, though.  Some characters rub my fur the wrong way.

Lion-O: Lord of the Thundercats
The son of Claudus, ruler of Thundera, this young lion ages rapidly following the desperate escape from Thundera and finds himself fully-grown on Third Earth.  His mind, however, does not age with his body and he must rely on the advice of the other Thundercats. (Particularly Tygra, because Tygra just kicks.)  He possesses the Sword of Omens in which resides the Eye of Thundera.  And without that Eye, the lion would have been dead in the first episode.  Watch for it to save him over and over again.  After a few rough starts, he turns out to be a decent leader, though he never quite catches on to the fact that he's invincible with that Sword of Omens.  It could probably do his hair for him if he let it.  He needs to something with that mane...
Tygra: Second in Command, Architect, Brains of the Operation, Physician, Invisible...Ahem.
Ah, Tygra.  His qualities go on and on.  Personally my favorite Thundercat, he is quiet and reserved, preferring to let others speak unless he needs to step in and set them all straight (not a rare occurance).  He designed Cat's Lair and all the really cool gear like the Cat Suits, the Cat's Eyes, and the Spring Heels.  His weapon is a bolo whip that can stiffen to provide a portable jungle gym, emits fire, and when wrapped around himself allows Tygra to swim and makes him invisible.  Tygra also has the power to create images with his mind, but he doesn't use this power often as he finds it draining.  He is self-conscious and this has caused trouble in the form of dangerous addictions.  Of course, the stunningly handsome tiger manages to overcome all odds and his addiction to save the day, but it is a weakness that I do have to mention just to be fair.  (This studly Thundercat is also rumored to leap tall buildings in a single bound.)
Panthro: Engineer and Warrior
Strongest of the Thundercats, this panther also has an attitude that can cause problems.  He's fiercely loyal to his friends but has a fiery temper they've all come to know and respect.  He's the mechanic in the group.  He built the Thundertank and most of the other vehicles the Thundercats like to run around in.  His weapons are nunchucks in the shape of claws that can also store projectiles and rockets.  The spikes on Panthro's uniform can extend to form shields, ropes, weapons, and just about whatever the warrior can imagine.  Master of the martial arts and a firm believer in the value of "honor," Panthro is an indispensable member of the Thundercat team.  If the writers were more liberal, I bet we could have gotten a host of creative oaths out of the panther, too.
Cheetara: The Psychic Speedster
Cheetara is another of my favorite characters.  For a long time, she was the only adult female on the show, but unlike other cartoons she wasn't the traditional wimp.  She could kick butt with the rest of the Thundercats.  She is the fastest of the Thundercats, with a speed unmatched by ally or enemy.  Tygra's clocked her mile at 30 seconds, but she can only maintain her top speed for two miles.  After that, her energy is expended and she is forced to run at the pace of the not-so-gifted Thundercats.  Her weapon is an expandable staff she keeps on her wristguard.  And it can really expand.  It can also shoot.  Cheetara is also the possessor of psychic powers, though for a while she finds them draining and fears to use them.  But if she uses them to their full extent, she turns into a really neat blue fireball and can shoot all kinds of damaging psychic rays.  Not a bad trick, actually, if you don't mind having a pretty cocky cheetah around afterwards...
Wiley Kat: The Cautious Thundertwin
One of the Thunderkittens and Wiley Kit's twin brother, this tiger/lion hybrid is a bundle of cunning, mischief, and trouble.  Personally, I don't think Wiley Kat has half the cunning that Wiley Kit does, but that's only my opinion.  Wiley Kat is more cautious than his sister, pausing before rushing into a situation.  He's not as agile, not as fast, and not as mature, but he keeps Kit in line when she goes off in search of adventure.  His weapon is a lariot and a bag of pellets that can emit sneezing powder, fake balloon dinosaur things, oil slicks (at least, that's what I assume they are), sleeping dust, and who knows what else.  He's the voice of reason from the Thunderkittens, if such a thing exists.  Hmmm...
Wiley Kit: Cunning and Daring
The second half of the imfamous Thunderkittens, Wiley Kit is far more agile, bold, and adventurous than her brother Wiley Kat.  She and her twin race around Third Earth on their Spaceboard (flying surfboards engineered by Panthro).  She shares the same weapons as Wiley Kat, the same parentage, the same room (uh oh), but that's about all they share.  Wiley Kit is more aware than her brother, more impetuous, more daring, and always on the watch for adventure.  Because of her constant exploring and risk-taking, the Thunderkittens often find themselves in trouble, but this doesn't seem to affect them for more than an episode or so.  She is still able to coerce or cajole her brother into one dangerous escapade after another.  Makes you wonder what the learning curve of the Thunderkittens is...
Snarf:  Nursemaid, comic relief, and ANNOYING!
Snarf was Lion-O's nursemaid on Thundera, and he finds the lion's sudden leap into adulthood a bit disconcerting.  For most of the first season, with Lion-O struggling to grasp his sudden growth, Snarf is there to provide useless advice and an irritating motherly hold on the young Lord of the Thundercats.  True, sometimes he comes up big on comic relief.  The electrocution scenes are usually pretty good.  But most of the time, Snarf is there to bother, to irritate, and yes, even to annoy.  Why he involved himself with the Thundercats and why they put up with him is something for the fanfics to explore.  I only include him in my own stories to ensure my tenuous hold on series continuity.  What else can we say about Snarf?  Well, supposedly he isn't capable of evil.  There are some episodes that dispute that.  And he can talk to animals.  That comes in handy once in a while.  His real name is Osbert, and why he goes by Snarf is something we may never know and may never want to know.  Just for your info.
