Laura runs into Tiffany as soon as she finished talking to Luke, or trying to talk to him at least. Tiffany notices how distraught she is and goes over to Laura and gives her a hug. Laura takes the embrace completely and starts to cry. "He won't listen to me," Laura whispers between her tears.
Tiff: Do you mind if I go talk to him?
Laura: What would be the point? He'll just believe that I somehow convinced you of my innocence and that you are repeating only what I've told you. Not the truth.
Tiff: Maybe an outside party can help, Laura.
Laura: Tiff, he's angry right now. More angry than I ever saw him and he won't listen to anyone. You'll just come out the same way I did.
Tiff: I think I can handle Luke. I've done it more times than I can remember.
Laura: I thought he would always listen to me, but that's slowly changed.
Tiffany saw Sean come back in and let Laura go so she could talk to Sean in private. She took Sean's arm and brought him to a corner in the room, looking back to make sure Laura couldn't hear her.
Tiff: She's not good. If this keeps up much longer, Sean...
Sean: I know. I don't see how Luke can believe something that sounds completely like a setup to begin with. I took Luke to have more brains than that.
Tiff: The problem is he isn't using his brains. He's running on anger and nothing else right now. Maybe if I go talk to him...
Sean: No. (Tiffany looks at him with a "what are you going to do to stop me" kind of look) No. Luke is crazed right now and I don't want you in there with him.
Tiff: Then don't put me in the cell, but I have to see him. If you say no, I'll just walk in myself, Sean.
Sean: Okay. I'll let you in the room, but not in his cell. I don't trust him right now, Tiff. This isn't the Luke we know.
Tiff: I can handle myself just fine. Will you watch Laura while I'm in there?
Sean: Of course.
Tiffany kisses Sean on the cheek before going to see Luke. When she walks in, she sees Luke lying down. The man in the cell next to Luke whistles as she walks by and Luke looks to see who it is. He tries to get a smile on his face, but it didn't last for long when he saw what kind of mood she was in.
Luke: How's my favorite film star today? Hope you didn't come here just to make sure I'm okay.
Tiff: Not exactly. I came with Laura.
Luke: So she pulled you towards her side. Well, what's that saying about how women always stick together?
Tiff: Luke, stop it. You know very well that Laura didn't need to pull me to her side. She told me exactly what happened.
Luke: And?
Tiff: And I don't see how you don't believe her.
Luke: Hey, Tiffany, you know I love you and your opinions on things, but you weren't here for the Cassadines return to town. You didn't see what I saw.
Tiff: What was that?
Luke: My wife's connection to the family from hell. She yearned for them while I just stood there watching.
Tiff: Luke, for god's sake, Nikolas is her son. How can you not expect her to want to get to know him?
Luke: Why did she have to see Count Vlad too?
Tiff: Who?
Luke: Stefan.
Tiff: Maybe because he is the boy's father. Come on, Luke. Wake up and open your eyes. Everything you've told me so far doesn't explain why you believe she has an actual relationship with him.
Luke: Then there were the numerous phone calls I was never supposed to know of when Nikky boy ran away or how she just left me at home while she stood by his bedside in the hospital.
Tiff: He's her son!
Luke: She never asked me to help!
Tiff: Considering what you think of him, I don't blame her.
Luke: She could have asked! No matter if I said no, she could have asked me, her husband, to help her when she was in need! Instead, I always had to volunteer it!
Tiff: As her husband, it's your job to volunteer it! She shouldn't need to ask!
Luke: Do you have any idea what it felt like? If she had asked me to go the hospital with her, I might have agreed. Nikolas wouldn't have even needed to see me there. He wouldn't have even had to know, but I would have liked to have been asked to be the one she leaned on. When he ran away, she could have immediately asked for my help. Maybe if she expressed her feelings about him and I saw that they were sincere, I would have helped immediately, but instead I had to come downstairs to see her crying while she was supposed to be asleep and offer my help.
Tiff: Would you have really helped her if it involved the Cassadines?
Luke: At one point, I would have done anything for her, no matter what the sacrifice.
Tiff: Luke, you're still not saying anything that would make you conclude that Stefan and Laura have been having an affair. The only thing you have proved to me is that Laura cares for her child. She will do whatever it takes to help him.
Luke: Okay, he's the clincher. I've always known that Stefan has had some secret obsession with my wife, but I never knew what fueled it. Just recently I found out that Stefan is Nikolas' father, but you already know that.
Tiff: That was how many years ago, Luke?
Luke: But if Laura has really made it clear she doesn't want to relive those years on the island with him, then why is he still completely obsessed with her? Why carry an obsession for a woman that you know you can't have, unless...
Tiff: Laura has done nothing wrong. She never gave him hope that he could have her sometime in the future.
Luke: How do you know? How do you know for sure?
Tiff: Because I know Laura. She's my best friend. I can read her like a book. It is so obvious, even to a total stranger, that she only loves you.
Luke (voice wavering to almost a whisper): Then explain the picture and Stefan being seen leaving our bedroom window.
Tiff: Stefan snuck in and planted the picture there. He did this to get this kind of reaction out of you.
Luke: How can he plant a picture that doesn't exist? It looked so real, Tiff. It looked so real no matter how much I want to believe it isn't.
Tiff: Can you make me a promise, Luke? Don't totally rule out Laura's version to this. Please, for her sake and yours, don't make up your mind on what the truth is without knowing all of the facts.
Luke: Okay. (Luke starts to cry) Do me a favor in return?
Tiff: Anything for you.
Luke: Keep an eye on her and the kids while I'm in here. And tell her that I...
Luke starts to cry before he can even get the words out. Tiffany knew what he was going to say and wanted to comfort him while he cried, but couldn't with the bars in the way. She said, "I will," before leaving Luke. The man in the cell next to Luke looked over at him and said, "You must be one lucky man to have two beautiful women like that care about you."
Luke tried to put a smile on his face through the tears as he said to himself, "I am."
