Chapter 5

The Spencer family is at Kelly's finishing up their dinner.  Everyone at that table was happy, completely, except for Laura, who was a little loss in a deep thought at times.  She was still remembering what Stefan had said and she didn't know if he was serious about his threats.  One week was not a long time to try to figure out a plan.  One week was not a long time to try to undo every mistake she had ever made.  Something startled her to make her come back to reality.

Luke: Laura, are you alright?

Laura: Yeah, I'm okay.  Just remembering.

Luke: (with a grin on his face) Bet I know what you're remembering.

Laura: (couldn't help but smile at her husband's enthusiasm) It was great, wasn't it?

Luke studied Laura thoroughly.  He knew something was bothering her a little, but he didn't know what.  Nothing his surprise wouldn't fix.

Luke: (standing and taking Laura's hand) If you'll excuse us.

Luke leads Laura outside Kelly's and to the car.  Before Laura knew what was going on, she was already in the car and being driven away somewhere.

Laura: Where are we going?

Luke: It's a surprise.

Laura: What about the kids and my mother?

Luke: Who do you think you're talking to here, woman?  I took care of it.  It's just us tonight.

Luke pulled over when they arrived at the docks.  He got out and opened the passanger's side door for Laura and lifted her out of the car.  Laura knowing full well that Luke had something in store, let herself be lead by him.  She soon noticed that there were a couple of crates set up as chairs and one set up as a little table.  On the table, there was a single candle and a bottle of champagne and two glasses.

Laura: Luke, you...

Luke: Shh... you have to take it all in first.

Luke led Laura to the nice little set up and helped her to one of the crates.  When she sat down, she noticed there was a little note leaning against the champagne bottle.  It was addressed to Mr. and Mrs. L. Spencer.  Wonder why Luke would write both our names on there, she thought.  She opened it up and read the letter.

"It's always beautiful to see two youngsters so much in love."

As Laura looked up into her husband's eyes, tears started streaming down her face.  She finally figured out what this all was.

Laura: The night you proposed.  Mrs. O'Reilly sent this to our table with a bottle of champagne and you stole two champagne glasses and a candle to bring back here.   I can't believe you remembered all of that.

Luke: I remember every single moment of that night.  We're just missing one more thing.

Laura: What's that?

Luke smiles as he takes the tape player out of his pocket.  He gently presses play and "Fascination" starts playing.  Luke stands up and bows to Laura, asking her for this dance.  Laura gets up and accepts, and the two of them dance to their song.  This was their night of "Fascination."
