Welcome to fan fic land. More specifically my fanfic land. One of the most important qualities of fan fic is that it be realistic, while catering to your desires. If your desire is Spike and Buffy interaction, you're at the right place. If not, stay here anyways, I like to see the hit count go up. Anyways, because the characters and their relationships change every episode, a fan fic that was soooo good last week, may make no sense this week. So, with that in mind, I begin brand spankin' new fanfics every episode. This means that after every new episode the whole plotline, no matter how good bad or has incredible potential will come to a close, so that a new one can being. So, treat the fan fics, if you will, like something to help you get through the week till the next episode. I'm telling you, if you read enough fanfic, you can avoid the spoilers. Anyway, they're not the classics that alot of people write. There's alot of beautifully written stuff out there, but alot of it isn't up-to-date, and is written in a very different format than how I write. Which brings me to my next point. I really like the script format. I notice alot of other fanfics are in
other formats; poetry, narratives,... I think scripts are easier to
understand and let me stay true to the characters more easily. I mean, we
know the type of things Spike says but we don't really know how he thinks.
Does he get all mushy, or does he still talk in that same bloody way?
Plus, sometimes other formats are a bit to obvious. Like, in alot of other
formats it would say, Spike smiles realizing that she....and then a whole
other long explanation. Personally, when I read fanfics, I don't really
like hearning those explantation, I'd rather figure it out for myself. But
sometimes I'm worried that you won't catch on or there's no other way to
explain it so I'll say something like a conscerned expression or a look of
sudden realization. Anyways, the point is my format will always be like a
script, and so I guess you'll just have to deal with it. There is one major draw back to the script format. It's the fact
that you get all those action directions mixed up in the dialogue and
sometimes it gets really annoying. All I can tell you is, try to read
through the stage directions really fast and then when you get to the
lines try to visualize it and make Spike talk with an accent, and let Dawn
talk in her little annoying whiny voice in your head. And do your best to
make it realistic for yourself. There's one more thing, if you haven't figured it out already, I'm
long-winded. It takes me a long time to say just a few things. Deal with
it. Wait. I forgot what I was going to say, oh yeah. The thing about fan
fic is thatit's really hard to make things seem realistic. For instance if
I were to make a fanfic about a magical sister coming into the scoobies'
lives and being the key that some God is after, you'd probably think that
that's ridiculous, but somehow when they do it on the air it gives it an
air of realism. So that's the thing, while you're reading i, you might
thing "that's too far-fetched" or "that's
out-of-character" which, it probably is, but you know what I mean.
No, never mind, I don't even know what I mean. I'm leaving now. P.S. Did I say one last thing already? One last note, anything in bold is not germane to the story (Don't know what germane means? Look it up.) SO, without further ado, please proceed! Continuation of... I think Shadow is one of the better
ones? I forget though ; ) Other
