AW's JEL & JB Chat About Babies, Bachelorhood and Bickering :: PART 2 |
Digest: Can you read each other? Barbara: She's very easy to read. Luciano: It's on my face. He's a little harder. He's more of the strong, silent type. If something is bothering him, I'll know when he's real quiet. Barbara: I talk a lot, usually. Digest: Can you push each others , buttons? Luciano: I would never want to. You don't meet actors like this very often. He's a very genuine, sweet--and I don't mean simple as dumb--but he's simple. His likes are simple. It's like black and white. There is gray with him, too. But for the most part, he's a caring, gentle soul. (Barbara grimaces at her.) What? You want to be a tough guy? Okay. And he's a tough guy. Barbara: That doesn't sound very attractive. "Oh, he's such a nice guy." Nice guys don't get the girls. Luciano: But you're not a bad guy. Barbara: You're killing my whole reputation. I am trying to cultivate a bit of an edge here and she's cramping my style. Luciano: Sorry, Elvis, you don't have an edge. Digest: Judi's best qualities? Barbara: Man, I was having a good time just listening. Let's see ... she's very reliable. That's not a good word. Luciano: Actually, that's a compliment. Barbara: Can we come back to this? Digest: Judi, do you give Joe insight into married life? Barbara: Oh, God, yeah. Luciano: You don't have to say it like that. You give me insight into single life, too. Barbara: Like you needed insight into single life. Don't get me started. Luciano: I had a lot of insight. Digest: What kind of advice does Judi give you? Barbara: Tons of advice. I talk to her about all types of girl situations. I love that about her. She really cares. I feel very safe with Judi. I trust her completely. I have told her things that maybe a handful of people in this world know. Digest: What have you learned about married life? Barbara: It's wonderful and it's difficult. Digest: And since you work with Judi's son, Austin [who plays Dante], it's almost like you have a child, too. Barbara: It's funny; everything is as it is until the moment when the kid is born. Then for the rest of your life, everything is different. Luciano: You lose your [old] life, but you gain a bigger one. I think that is what postpartum is for a lot of women: The re- alization that you are completely responsible; there is no time for yourself anymore. But I didn't have postpartum. Barbara: You went through it before you had the kid. Luciano: I got it out beforehand. But I think the responsibility--especially with your first--is huge. At the same time, you are so in love with this little baby. Digest: How do you feel when Joe regales you with stories about single life? Luciano: Two things: Sometimes it makes me think, "Thank God I am married." Other times I think, "Wow! To be free and single." Not necessarily dating, just no responsibility. I live vicariously through Joe. Digest: Do you get along with Judi's husband, Michael? Luciano: They like each other a lot. Barbara: Oh yeah, he's a very cool guy. It makes it easier for us to work together. Luciano: Sometimes, my husband will say, "You make love to guys on-camera for a living, but if I have a female friend at work you are jealous." He's kidding around, but he likes Joe. If Joe was a pig or a smarmy guy, I wouldn't like him, and my husband wouldn't like him, which would make me like him less. Since Joe is a good guy ... Barbara: There we go again. Luciano: I knew an actor, or at least I read an article about an actor, who every time he had love scenes, he had to send roses to his wife. I thought, "What kind of relationship is that?" (Barbara's curiosity is piqued. To Barbara: ) I'll tell you later. This is in film where you get naked. [Soaps] are so far removed from that and it is so embarrassing when you do [love scenes] anyway. Digest: What odds do you give on the survival of Joe and Paulina's marriage? Luciano: I want us to have problems. Barbara: I do, too. Luciano: But I definitely see us together. We could even have affair, I think, and still stay together. Barbara: Wouldn't that be cool? Digest: Who do you have in mind? Luciano: You kind of like Josie, don't you? Barbara: You mean me... ? Luciano: No, Joe Carlino. Barbara: They went that way for a bit. Luciano: I kind of like Shane. Barbara: Go for it. I kind of like Lila. Luciano: You be with Lila, I'll be with Shane and then we'll get back together. Barbara: Cool. #
