Kup made his first appearance shortly before the Autobot City Massacre of 2005. He, Sunstreaker,Huffer, Hound and Bluestreak were setting up a roadblock on a mountainside, when the young Autobot, Hot Rod, came crashing through. When Hot Rod shot down the Autobot shuttle that was arriving on Earth, upon realising it was under Decepticon control, Kup had to save him from the Decepticon, Blitzwing, and then the Insecticons, as they returned to the besieged Autobot City. Kup and Hot Rod arrived in time to equip Autobot City's weaponry and help employ it against Devastator. Kup tried to stop Hot Rod from interfering in the fight between Optimus Prime and Megatron, but his words of warning fell on deaf audio receptors. As a result of Hot Rod's interference, Megatron killed Prime, but also recieved mortal damage from Prime in the process. Ultra Magnus became the Autobots' new leader.
Kup transforms into a futuristic pick-up truck (hence his name - picKUP truck). This may be based on a Cybertronian design, or a design from Earth in 2005, which is unclear. In robot mode, he is armed with a standard blaster. Kup has seen many battles in his life, and loves nothing more than to tell his war stories to anyone who will listen.
When the Decepticons attacked Autobot City again, now led by Galvatron, who was actually Megtron, rebuilt by the monster planet Unicron, Kup wound up piloting an escape shuttle with Hot Rod and the Dinobots. When they shook of the Decepticons, Kup started telling his stories to the Dinobots, who were enthralled with the tales. They preferred to hear the stories than to devise a battle plan, but when the Decepticons caught up with them, it was Kup's experience in a previous battle with "The Shrikebats of Dromedan" which kept them alive, until Cyclonus shot them down. Their shuttle crashed on the bizarre aquatic world of Quintessa. Kup imediately wound up in a fight with a robotic suid, which tore him into pieces, until Hot Rod beat it back and repaired Kup. While searching for the Dinobots, the duo ran into beings known as Sharkticons. Kup attempted to make peace with the famous Universal Greeting - "Bah wheep graagnah weep ni ni bong" - but the Sharkticons did not comply, and captured the two Autobots, taking them to be put on trial by the rulers of the planet, the Quintessons (neither Kup nor Hot Rod realised it, but these creatures were the descendants of the original Quintessons, the five-faced aliens who built Cybertron and the Transformers many millions of years ago). They were rescued by the Dinobots, who had been led to the Quintesson fortress by a native named Wheelie, who took them to a ship and left Quintessa with them.
After rendez-vousing with the other Autobots on the planet Junkion, Hot Rod used the Universal Greeting to calm the Junkion natives, led by Wreck-Gar, and Kup used his knowledge of Earthen televisual broadcasts to converse with the Junkions. In his own words: "I talk some TV - and now the news! Don't touch that dial!" The Autobots and Junkions then headed for Cybertron to stop Unicron from consuming the planet. Hot Rod crashed the Quintesson ship through robot-mode Unicron's eye, but Kup and the others were separated from him as they fell through Unicron's interior. Kup and the remaining Autobots, along with Daniel Witwicky, were attacked by Unicron's internal drone army, and managed to free the Autobots who had been previously consumed by the monster planet. Then, Hot Rod appeared, having been transformed into Rodimus Prime by the power of the Matrix. Rodimus led the Autobots out of Unicron, and became their new leader.
Kup was head of techincal operations on Cybertron throughout 2006. He was among the Autobots who travelled to Nebulos, where he had his weapon converted into an exo-suit for a cranky, middle-aged Nebulan named Recoil, who became his TargetMaster partner. Kup's weapon was made ten times more powerful through this process. Kup then returned to Cybertron with his fellow Target and HeadMaster Autobots, after defeating the Decepticons and their new Nebulan partners, where he bore witness to the restoration of Cybertron's Golden Age.
While this event more than likely did not actually end the Great Wars, Kup seems likely to have continued to live for a considerable time afterwards, but obviously, being only Nebulan, Recoil would not have lived for as long. Kup's status at the time of the Beast Wars is unknown, but scant, conflicting reports indicate that there may be some form of connection between him and the Maximal, Rattrap. Further details are unavailable.
