Wheelie made his first appearance when the Autobots Hot Rod, Kup and the Dinobots crash-landed on the planet Quintessa, while fleeing from Decepticons, in the Earth year 2005, shortly after the Autobot City Massacre. When Hot Rod and Kup were captured by the planet's inhabitants, the Quintessons (actually the five-faced aliens who had built the Transformers millions of years ago, although no-one realised it at the time), Wheelie uncovered their predicament, and located the Dinobots, who were elsewhere on the planet, and brought them to free Kup and Hot Rod. Wheelie offered them a ship to get off the planet, if he could come with them. They agreed, and he went with them to the planet Junkion, where they met up with their fellow Autobots, and Wheelie instantly hit it off with the young human, Daniel Witwicky.
Wheelie transforms into a peculiar futuristic car. As Wheelie had never been to Earth, one concludes it is Cybertronian in design. Of course, the only indication that Wheelie is Cybertronian in origin is the fact that he transforms, and that he bears the Autobot insignia on his chest. It has been theorised that he was stranded on Quintessa, perhaps the only survivor of a ship that crashed there. He is possessed of the habit, or perhaps compulsion, of always speaking in rhyming sentences, a trait which many find to be irritating.
In 2006, Wheelie was sent on a mission with Blurr and Sky Lynx to obtain a new transforming cog for the Autobot city of Metroplex. When they were successful, Metroplex was essential to defeating the Decepticons and the Quintessons. Wheelie did little else of note throughout that year, and his final fate following the restoration of Cybertron's Golden Age is unknown.
