1973      1 Golden Jubilee Reunion of the Cowboy Band (50th anniversary)
              2 June 20, 1973: "Prof" Marion B. McClure passed away. With his
                 passing, he left us much more than a memory of a man; for the principle
                 by which Prof lived and sought to instill in the minds of bandsmen
                 through the years will forever be deeply rooted in the Cowboy Band.
              3 August 14, 1973: Lawson Hager becomes only the third man to lead the Cowboy Band in over fifty years.

              2 Wednesday, October 7, 1998.  The Band first learns that it is
                  under investigation for suspected hazing during what was known as Band Slime.
              3 Friday, October 9, 1998.  All Slime activities are made to cease and
                  desist by the administration--just hours before they were to end anyway.
              4 Saturday, October 10, 1998.  The Cowboy Band is suspended from performing at the football game.
              5 The judgement of the administration holds all upperclassmen
                  accountable for hazing.  Each bandsman is required to fulfill 90 hours of community service.
              6 Saturday, October 17, 1998.  The Band resumes its performances with the Homecoming football game.
