After Kevin left, Kassidy busied herself with cleaning the house. She talked to Michael and Lee. It had been awhile since she had talked to them.
At 5:00 she decided to take a bath, figuring Kevin would be home soon. She wanted tonight to be special. Kevin had been working so hard on a project at work, but he had finished it the day before. This was the first weekend he hadn't worked in over a month.
At 6:30 she called Denny. He said Kevin had left a little before 5:00. Kassidy thanked him and hung up; reassuring herself that Kevin had just stopped somewhere on his way home.
Her fears were mounting as the clock reached 7:00. At 7:12, there was a knock on the door. Kassidy ran to get it, hoping Kevin just had his arms full and couldn't open the door.
"Kevin where have you been," she scolded as she opened the door, but abruptly stopped.
"Mrs. Wadkins?"
"Yes."
"May we come in," asked one of the two men standing in front of her. He was in a suit and the other was in a policeman's uniform.
"Why do I get the feeling the correct answer is yes, but it's not going to be what I want to do," Kassidy attempted to joke.
The officers followed her into the living room and took seats. Once the officer in the suit started to speak, Kassidy's life was again changed without her permission.
What was going into her ears was information about a wreck, a drunk driver, and a body needing to be identified. What her entire body was doing was screaming NO. That is every part of her body but her mouth.
The officer asked her if there was someone to call. Kassidy said she needed to go identify the body first. She asked if they would they go with her to tell Kevin's parents. They agreed. She handed them her Daytimer with all her numbers in it. She had them call her minister and her in-laws' minister. They were to meet the ministers at the gas station down the street from the Wadkins' house. The Wadkins' minister agreed to call them and make sure they were home. As Kassidy left the house with the officers she ran back in to turn off the roast.
Once at the hospital she was led to the morgue. The officer's warned her that he was very banged up. He had been hit head on when the drunk driver swerved out into traffic. The drunk had been driving backwards on the interstate. A semi was in front of Kevin so he couldn't see what was happening until the truck swerved to miss the car, leaving a clear path to Kevin. The impact caused Kevin's car to spin. He was then hit by a pickup on the driver's side.
Kassidy steeled herself for seeing her husband lying on the cold metal table. The sheet was pulled back to reveal the man she loved. His face had some cuts and bruises.
She asked for details of his injuries. The air bag had deployed and if he had not been hit the second time he would have probably walked away from the wreck. However, when he was hit on the driver's side the impact caused his head to break the window. The door caved in on him causing a couple of ribs to break, one puncturing his lung. Between the head trauma and the internal injuries it was too much wrong at the same time. He went into cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital and even though they worked on him for 30 minutes they never got his heart started again.
She asked about the other two drivers. The drunk driver was dead. The driver of the pickup had two broken legs. He practically stood on his brakes trying to stop in time.
Kassidy went in search of his family. She told them her prayers were with them and that she would be back in a day or two to check on him.
They left the hospital and met the two ministers. Mrs. Wadkins answered the door and called her husband in from outside.
The officer started to speak but the look Kassidy gave him instantly shut him up. She fell to her knees in front of her in-laws. She quietly told them what happened and that Kevin was gone. Mrs. Wadkins began to scream. Mr. Wadkins just cried. They clung to each other. Kassidy kept telling them she was sorry. The pastors stepped in. Kassidy went into the kitchen and called Kevin's two sisters. Within the hour they, along with their husbands, were at the house and knew Kevin's fate.
Kassidy called Michael and Lee. They were on their way. Kassidy found some paper and sat down at the kitchen table. She made a list of things to do. It was her coping mechanism. She planned the funeral. Made a list of everything legally she needed to do. This was all old hat to her. She'd done it twice before. The officers came in to say goodbye and she walked them to the door. She thanked them. As they left she heard her cell phone ringing. It was in her purse on the table by thefront door.
"Hello."
"Kassidy is that you?"
"Yeah Grace it's me."
"What's wrong? Are you sick?"
"No I'm not sick," she said, choking back tears.
"Kassidy you're scaring me. What's wrong?"
"Kevin."
"Yes?"
"Kevin. Um he."
"What did Kevin do?"
"He died."
"What? Kassidy!"
Kassidy had dropped the phone. Her pastor had come to check on her and seen her drop it before she walked out of the house. He retrieved it from the floor and talked to Grace. He explained what happened, then attempted to calm Grace until AJ took the phone, who handed it to Kevin while he took care of Grace. The minister again explained. Kevin wanted details. The minister said he would make sure he was notified once everything was arranged.
Kassidy was walking through the neighborhood. She was aware her minister was following her while talking to her friends on her cell phone. She had thought being outside would help alleviate the suffocating feeling she was having, but it didn't. It was like she was drowning.
"Kassidy."
"Ian help me understand."
"I don't have answers for you, but I know that God loves you."
"Ian I don't doubt God. I just want to understand God," she finished with a scream. "Everyone says I'm so strong. Why do I have to be this strong? What good does it do?"
"Kassidy I don't know what to tell you."
Kassidy looked at him for a minute. "I know. But damnit Ian God better get me through this."
"God will Kassidy. Promise."
He folded her in his arms while she cried. After a few minutes, they headed back to the house. Everyone had pulled themselves together enough to talk about the funeral. Kassidy called the funeral home where his body would be taken and made an appointment for the next day. She got home around midnight. Kevin's sisters' insisted on staying. The phone rang at 1:00.
"Hello."
"Kass, its Nick."
"Hi Nick."
"Kass I'm so sorry."
"Me too," she said as she began to cry. "God I wish I were numb. I was numb when mom and dad died."
"Kass what can I do to help?"
"You calling helped."
"We're all are worried about you."
"Don't worry about me. I will be fine. I have to be. Besides I've got to pull myself together, I'm singing at the funeral."
"What?"
"Did I ever tell you about the fight Kev and I had when planning the wedding? Well I guess it wasn't really a fight, but as close as we got to one."
"No you didn't"
"It happened, because he suggested the Jessica Simpson/Nick Lachey song 'Where You Are' for the wedding. He didn't know it was about someone dying. I told him no then he joked about me singing it at his funeral. I didn't know why it freaked me out so bad. Guess I know why now."
"So you are going to sing it?"
"Yeah."
"Who's going to sing with you?"
"No one."
"Oh."
"Nick I don't know if I can sleep."
"Kass who is there with you?"
"Kev's sisters."
"Can you get one of them?"
"OK."
Kassidy called out and both of them came in the room. She handed the phone to his oldest sister. She talked to him for a moment then gave the phone back to Kassidy. Both sisters left but kept the door cracked.
Nick told Kassidy to close her eyes. He began to softly sing to her and continued to sing until Kevin's sister came back in and picked up the phone. She had been checking until Kass fell asleep just as Nick had asked. She said good night to Nick and hung up the phone, slipping out of the room. Allowing Kassidy to get what little sleep she would get for awhile.
Chapter 29
"She's doing it again," stated Michael as she watched her best friend walk around the funeral home.
"Doing what again," asked Grace. She and Maddie had arrived the day before.
Lee, Kassidy's other close friend growing up, answered, "taking care of everyone so she doesn't have to deal with this. She has gone into her shell the same as when her parents died."
"Let's hope it doesn't take a year for her to breakdown and grieve," commented Michael.
"What can we do," asked Maddie.
"Watch her until the funeral is done. She is on auto pilot and it helps her to look after everyone else while brushing off questions about how she's doing. She is doing this to prepare for tomorrow."
"Mike do you really think she's going to make it through singing," asked Lee.
"Do you want to stop her?"
"No," sighed Lee as Kassidy made her way to them.
"Hey guys. How are we doing over here?"
"Kassi we're fine. You need anything," asked Maddie.
"Me? Nah. I'm fine. I keep thinking I've forgotten something."
"If you did it will come to you," stated Michael.
"Yeah. Thanks you all for being here. I wouldn't make it without you," she said with a trembling voice. She continued, "OK time to make the rounds again."
She checked on the Wadkins at the front of the room. The casket was closed with a picture of Kevin on top, but Kassidy avoid looking at it. She walked around the room talking to people, offering comfort.
As she moved to the back of the room, one of Kevin's nephews ran up and pulled her to a back corner. She got down on the floor with all the kids for a few minutes. Kevin's oldest sister joined them but had to leave the room when her daughter asked where Uncle Kevin was. Kassidy pulled the little girl into her lap and explained God had needed someone up in heaven to help him keep an eye on all the family and God had chosen Uncle Kevin. She told the little girl that the first star she saw at night was her Uncle's sign
that he was watching and even if it was cloudy the star was still there and so was he. All the kids seemed to accept this explanation. Kassidy was able to interest them in their game again. When she stood she noticed all the adults in the room were crying. She hadn't realized they were all listening to her.
Again she got that suffocating feeling and walked out of the room. She didn't stop until she was out in the parking lot with her four friends in hot pursuit. They lagged behind until she turned and told them to get their butts up with her. They all knew her control had been stretched to its breaking point, but none tried to convince her to let go for they knew it would do no good.
"It's a nice night," Kassidy commented.
"Yeah it is," agreed Grace.
"Oh! I know what I forgot. In the morning, Michael will you get the flowers like Mom and Dad's. You know the ones I'm talking about?"
"Yeah I do. I will get them eary in the morning."
"Thanks. What time is it," she asked.
Lee picked up Kassidy's wrist and turned the watch to read it. "8:30."
Kassidy giggled and said "Duh! I guess we should get back. Only a half hour left."
It had been two days since the accident. The funeral was set for 11:00 the following morning at the Wadkins' Church. Even though Kevin had joined Kassidy's church before they married, they had gotten married in his parents church and they had wanted the funeral there too.
After visitation ended, Kassidy and her friends said goodnight to the family and headed back to Kassidy's house. They walked into the kitchen. A survey of the counters and refrigerator showed that Kassidy's church had made a stop. One of her friends from church had gotten the spare key from Michael. They had brought casseroles, a turkey, ham, and several desserts. Kassidy told her friends they were responsible for eating most of the food. All the women laughed. It was the first real laugh any of them had heard from
Kassidy since arriving. They all stayed with Kassidy and talked until she went to sleep. It was the first time any of them had out lasted her.
Kassidy opened her eyes to bright sunshine and a gentle breeze. She thought, what a beautiful morning, as she stretched. Of course, reality struck and she remembered she was burying her husband in a few hours.
She curled up into a little ball and let the tears flow. She could still smell him on the sheets and his pillow.
She took in deep breaths as she sat up in an attempt to get control. She had to warm up. It was 7:00, strange she woke up without the alarm. She pushed the covers off her legs and got out of bed. Once in the shower she started to warm up her voice. When she stepped out of the shower there was a cup of coffee sitting on the sink.
"Thanks for the coffee," she called out.
"Sure. Kassi what are you wearing today?"
"No clue. Hang on. I will be there in a second."
"OK."
"Lee where is everyone?"
"Michael has gone on your flower errand. Grace and Maddie are running an errand for themselves."
"Cool," replied Kassidy as she walked into the bedroom wrapped in a towel.
She headed into the walk-in closet with Lee following. She pulled a dark gray suit off the rod and handed it to Lee. She turned to Kevin's side of the closet. Lightly running her fingers over his clothes, feeling the textures her hand settled on a cobalt blue dress shirt. She pulled it out.
"I think it works," said Lee.
"Me too. Now shoes."
"How about these," asked Lee, holding up a pair of dark gray pumps.
"Works."
They walked out of the closet and Lee slipped out of the bedroom to get ready. Kassidy dried her hair and applied make-up. She finished dressing as Michael and Lee walked into the bedroom.
"Hi. You guys ready," asked Kassidy.
"Yeah. I got the flowers. They are in the refrigerator."
"Thanks Mike. Lee can you put my hair up?"
"Sure can," replied Lee.
Lee quickly put her hair up in a french twist. Kassidy stood up, observing herself in the full-length mirror on the back of the bathroom door. Satisfied she looked presentable she lead the way to the living room.
"Are the girls back yet? And where did you say they were going?"
Grace answered as she walked in from the kitchen. "We just got back and we went to the airport."
"Why the," trailed off Kassidy as she saw who was following Grace and Maddie.
All five of the Backstreet Boys along with Kristen, Leighanne, Nick's girlfriend Candace, and three bodyguards walked in behind the girls. Everyone stood silent for a moment. They immediately noticed how pale Kassidy looked. Brian broke the silence as he moved to pull her into a hug.
"Kassi we are so sorry."
"Thanks Brian. How did you all get here?"
"Plane," answered AJ, who was next in line to hug her.
She chuckled and said "duh! Now group hug with the big guys."
Marcus, Billy, and Carlos all hugged her.
Howie hugged her and explained, "We flew out right after the show in New Mexico last night. We have to leave late tonight for phoenix. Wish we could stay longer."
"Howie it means so much for you guys to just be here. I can't believe you all did this."
"Of course we would do this," said Leighanne as she and Kristen hugged her.
Kristen said, "you're our friend and so was Kevin."
When they let go, Kassidy turned to Kevin, saying, "Well we are back to one Kevin."
He saw the tears glistening in her eyes has he hugged her. He was on the verge of breaking down so he couldn't speak. He let go and Candace hugged her.
"I'm really sorry Kassidy."
"Thanks Candace."
Finally, Kassidy was standing in front of Nick. He reached out and caressed her cheek then pulled her into his arms. He rocked her while she softly cried. After a moment, Kassidy pulled back.
"Carter did you mess up my hair?"
"What? No," he replied.
"Good. I need to tell you all something in case it gets hectic later. Thanks so much for being here. Now let's go."
Michael grabbed the flowers out of the refrigerator on the their way out the door. Everyone found seats in Kassidy, Kevin's, or Michael's car. Lee led the way to the Church. They arrived at 9:45. Kevin's family was already there. Kassidy greeted them in the entrance then slipped into the sanctuary. She asked the funeral director to open the casket. He did as requested. Kassidy laid the flowers in the casket. They were one each of red, ink, purple, and white roses. She had gotten the combination of colors for her mother on one of her hospital stays. Her mother had loved them; from then on Kassidy got them for her each time she went into the hospital. She had put them in both her parents' caskets. It seemed right to have them in
Kevin's casket. The funeral director closed the casket again. Nick's eyes never left her as he watched her through the window of one of the doors at the back of the sanctuary.
Kassidy went back to join the family. She was again in her caregiver role. The guys all knew how she had been. Maddie and Grace had kept them informed. They were all glad the funeral was on a day off. Only Kevin knew Nick had planned on being there even if it meant missing a show.
It seemed like time had fast-forwarded when Kassidy wasn't looking. It was time for the funeral. She sat in the front pew with the family. Her friends were on the row behind her. She repeated silently, you can do this. When it was time for her to sing she stood and walked to casket. She placed a hand on the wood for strength. The music began and she began to sing never noticing that Nick had left the sanctuary and was now standing in the balcony. He had decided he was not going to make her go through this alone. He would be Kevin's voice.
Kassidy sang the first verse then looked up to see Nick. He held her gaze as he sang. Her eyes left him. Together they got through the song and the funeral.
Chapter 30
"Well there is one advantage to having Backstreet around. All this food is being eaten," laughed Kassidy.
"Glad to know we are good for something," retorted Brian.
Kassidy said, "stop talking and keep eating."
"Yes ma'am."
"Kassi sure you don't want us to stay," asked Maddie.
"No. Honestly, I'll be fine. Michael and Lee aren't leaving until tomorrow, then I go back to work on Monday."
Grace said, "If you need company at any point just call. I'll come visit."
"Thanks sweetie. That really means a lot."
"Kassidy do you have anymore of that broccoli casserole?"
"Marcus, I love you, a man with an appetite. Mike give the man food?"
"Sure."

After the funeral and burial they had stopped by the Wadkins house, but as soon as was polite, they left. On the ride back to the house, Nick and Candace had ridden with Kassidy, Lee, and Grace.
Just like everyone else, Nick was worried about Kassidy. She was on autopilot, talking about details of the funeral as if it were something abstract. He really didn't want to leave her, but there was no legitimate reason for him to stay. He felt his girlfriend give his hand a reassuring squeeze. He smiled and kissed her forehead. It also wasn't fair to Candace, but she had understood his need to be there.
"I hate to say it, but we need to leave," said Kevin, checking his watch.
"Well I'm going to say my good-byes here," said Kassidy.
They all took turns hugging, while Maddie and Grace's bags were loaded into one of the cars. Kassidy thanked them again for coming as she walked with them out to the cars. Nick was the last to hug her. He kissed her gently on the cheek before getting in the car. Michael and Lee were driving them to the airport. Kassidy watched until they were out of sight. She went back in and busied herself with the clean up.
Once the plane was in the air, Howie asked, "Did you tell Kassidy?"
"About our engagement? No. I just couldn't do it," said Maddie.
"That's fine baby. I think its good you didn't. We will tell her in few weeks."
"Yeah. God Howie this is so awful."
"I know."
"I don't know what I would do if I lost you."
"Same here, but luckily we don't have to think about it," he replied as he pulled her into a hug.
***
"Pooh you OK?"
"Yeah AJ. I'm just worried about Kassi."
"I know."
"I wish I could help."
"You did help. You were there when she needed you. Unfortunately, now she has to face the rest of her life. Unfortunately she has to do it alone."
"Yeah, but it's going to be hard. Kevin was a really great guy. I'm going to miss him," said Grace, tears sliding down her face.
"Oh come here Pooh," directed AJ.
Grace moved closer to him, allowing him to wrap his arms around her. He held her while she cried. She felt safer than she ever had. It was all going to be OK, because AJ was there and he was holding her.

The next day Michael and Lee went to church with Kassidy. They felt Kassidy getting tenser by the minute. Everyone coming up and offering their condolences was more than she could handle. She just wanted to deal with her grief in private and everyone coming up put her on display. She made it through church, but beat a hasty retreat afterwards.
Back at the house, Michael and Lee fixed lunch. The phone rang and it was another sympathy call.
"Kassidy you ready to eat something," asked Lee after she had hung up the phone.
"I guess," said a distracted Kassidy.
"What's wrong," asked Michael.
"I tired of all this crap!"
"What crap?"
"All these people calling. Everyone at church was walking around on eggshells this morning. I mean. I'm still me. Yes Kevin died. Yes it's completely awful, but it's mine to deal with. No one else can and it doesn't help with everyone being so careful around me. If they are going to act that way then they can all just go away!"
Michael exchanged a glance with Lee before speaking. "Kassidy you can't get mad at them for not knowing what to do."
"Yes I can!"
"Kassidy," chided Lee.
"Damn it! He was my husband I'm dealing with it why can't they?"
"They are dealing with it. And you can't dictate how they act anymore than they can dictate to you."
"I know Mike, but I don't know."
"Well eat something."
"Why is everyone shoving food in my mouth," she chuckled.
"To shut you up?" asked Lee.
"Fine," said Kassi with a smile. "When are you guys leaving?"
"After we eat. We promised the guys we would be home before dark."
"Oh."
"Kassi if you need us to stay we can try and work something out."
"Nah. I'm a big girl. I'll be just fine."
They ate quietly. Afterwards, they loaded Michael's car and hugged goodbye. Kassidy watched them leave. Turning to go into the house she hesitated.
It hit her that she was alone. Everyone was gone, including Kevin and he was never coming back. She sat down on the steps and stared up at the sky.
She had no idea how long she had sat there, but she was brought out of her reverie by the phone ringing.
"Hello?"
"Hi Kassidy."
"Hey Grace. How's Phoenix?"
"Hot. How are you?"
"I'm hanging in there. So what are you all doing?"
"Nothing. The guys are sound checking. Mike and Lee gone?"
"Yeah. Finally some piece and quiet."
There was a lull in the conversation. It made Kassidy uncomfortable.
"Hey Grace I need to go. I've got some stuff around here to get done before going back to work tomorrow. Tell everyone 'Hi'. I promise we will have a longer talk next time. OK?"
"Sure. If you need to talk, call."
"Same goes for you. Bye."
"Bye."
Grace hung up the phone as Brian walked into the room. "Hey Grace. You OK?"
"Hmm? Oh yeah. I was just talking to Kassidy."
"She OK?"
"I don't know. She's by herself in the house. She didn't really want to talk."
"Well give her some time. Are you ever gonna let me hear the new song?"
"Maybe," she teased.
"You better. Come on lets get food."
Grace allowed him to pull her out of the dressing room and down the hall to catering. They were laughing and talking. However, Grace stopped laughing when she entered the room. AJ was in line with one of the new dancers. They were flirting up a storm with each other. AJ saw her but barely acknowledged her. It hurt Grace. She told Brian she wasn't hungry and quickly left the room. She bumped into Howie and Maddie on her way out. They looked at Brian questioningly and he nodded his head toward AJ. Maddie was instantly mad. Howie told her to talk with Brian while he went looking for Grace. Maddie wanted to go after Grace, but Howie stopped her. He thought it was better for him to go, because he was calmer. He also made it clear she couldn't tell AJ off. She reluctantly agreed and Howie went in search of Grace. Carlos directed him to the tour buses out on the loading dock.
"Grace?"
"Go away Howie."
"Grace," he said soothingly as he sat beside her on the couch.
"Howie I'm fine."
"No you're not and I know why."
"So?"
"So. We're friends. I hate to see you upset. Especially over AJ."
"What does that mean?"
"It means, AJ is one of my best friends, but sometimes he is so blind. I know how much you care about him. I wish I could help it not hurt so bad to see him in his full Boner mode."
"Howie you can't. It's my problem. I have to deal with it."
"I know, but I'm telling you that you are not alone. We all care about you. You are apart of our family now. So hang tough."
"I'm trying. Gawd I look so awful when I cry."
"Sad, upset, yes, but awful never."
"Howard you are so full of it sometimes."
"True, but not this time. Now lets get your nose blown and your face washed. You are going back in there with your head up and ignore AJ."
"All right. Thanks Howie."
"Anytime Grace."
They went back into craft services and got their food. AJ asked Grace to join him at the dancers' table, but Howie said Maddie was already saving a seat for her. AJ was puzzled, but the dancer soon had his complete attention again. Howie made Maddie and Grace sit with their backs to AJ. This would help keep Grace from crying and Maddie from killing AJ. Brian and Leighanne joined them and they did there best to keep Grace smiling.
After the show, Grace kept her distance from AJ. He decided to ride on the dancers' bus. Grace quietly cried herself to sleep. She had made up her mind to make arrangements to go see her parents by the end of the week. If he was going start something with this dancer then she didn't want to see it. Now all she had to do was tell everyone she was leaving.
She pulled everyone but AJ into Brian and Leighanne's room the next morning. She told them of her decision. They all were sad to see her go, but understood that she needed to get some distance from AJ. They told her they supported her and she was welcome anytime. She was surprised it had gone so well. Too bad the same couldn't be said for AJ.
"You're what?"
"AJ I need to go home."
"Why?"
"Because I'm tired. I need to see my family and do something thinking about my future."
"You can rest more and think about your future here."
"AJ, please, I've decided. I'm leaving tomorrow."
"Fine. Go. Have fun. Tell your family hi for me."
"I will."
"AJ?"
They turned to see the dancer in the doorway of the dressing room.
"Yeah I'm coming."
Without another word he left the room. Grace willed herself not to cry. He was being an ass and wasn't worth shedding tears over. She sat down at the piano and started to play. Brian walked in and sat down across from her listening. She kept singing, because she was finally use to them hearing her. She finished the song and they sat in silence.
"So what are your suggestions?"
"Grace I don't have any. It's perfect the way it is. I saw AJ. You told him."
"Yeah, not that he cared."
"Oh he cared all right."
"Huh?"
"He's hurt that you are leaving so he's acting like he doesn't care. It's his defense mechanism."
"Whatever. I'm sorry I'm not getting more songwriting help from you."
"Grace you really don't need it."
"Funny Brian."
"I'm serious. You are a songwriter. I think you could make a living at it."
"Stop it."
"Grace Johnson, listen to me. You are very talented. You need to stop putting yourself down. You are wonderful person and I am very glad I know you. We all feel that way."
"So you really think I'm an OK songwriter?"
Brian laughed and said, "Yes! Why? Do you want to do it as a career?"
"Nice dream, but unfortunately my parents won't let me."
"Grace come here," directed Brian as he took her hand and stood her in front of the full-length mirror.
"And we are doing this why?"
"What do you see?"
"Me," replied Grace.
"I see you as a woman. You are an adult. You don't have to answer to anyone. You also don't have to live out other people's dreams. Grace its time you started living for yourself. If you want to be a doctor then do it. If you want to be a songwriter do it. If you want to do both then go for it, but you have to decide what you want to do and who you are."
Grace stood there looking at her image. It sounded so simple, but it was so hard. All she had ever done was what she was told. Her parents had always insisted music was a useless thing. It was a nice diversion, but she would be a doctor. She wanted to help people and she wanted to do music. One had to give, to keep peace she had gone with her parents' wishes.
"I can see I've made you think," said Brian.
"Yes and now I have a headache."
"I hate when that happens."
"When what happens," asked Nick as he walked into the dressing room.
"Thinking," answered Brian.
"Never do it," said Nick.
"So you never get a headache," commented Grace.
"Only when I'm not winning at basketball."
"Man Frack you must always have headaches then."
"You better run Brian," exclaimed Nick.
Grace laughed and watched them run around the room. Just before Nick caught Brian he ducked out the door. You could hear their laughter and feet pounding the concrete as they ran down the hallway. Grace sighed. Man she was going to miss this and them and AJ.
