I-785

VA 785
From: US 29 Bus NC State Line
To: US 58-360 east of Danville
Total Length: 7.4 miles
ROUTE LOG
US 29 SB, US 29 Bus, US 58 WB: 0 - 0
VA 86: 3.6 - 3.6
US 58 EB, US 58 Bus, US 360: 3.8 - 7.4
Creation: Unsure of exact date of creation, but VA 785 is listed in the 2001 VDOT Route Log. It runs as a multiplex with US 29 Bypass. This is likely only 2-3 years old. This has been the only VA 785.
Adjustments: None
Posting: No VA 785 signs exist, but there are proposed I-785 signs up.
Comment: From its creation until May 2002, this was the highest state route number in current use. Does not appear on any maps that I am aware of. It is, of course, the precursor to the eventual I-785.
