The following pictures are of a Red Fox that was taken in Baltimore County Maryland. It has a SEVERE case of Mange. This disease caused the hair to fall out, and a itchy rash and very dry skin that can be seen in the pictures. When the population is not controlled, then diseases such as mange, rabies, and distemper become epidemic and will lower the population. Hunting and trapping is one tool to do this. I ask you this, which it better, trapping, or letting the animals die of diseases.
This female fox was taken in Dover Township, Pennsylvania, on October 28, 2002. Here is the description, in the trappers own words: "Well I was out this morning checking my traps and I came across this poor suffering animal. She was just a pup and had MANGE bad. She was in so much pain she just sat there and let me dispatch her almost like she was begging me to put an end to her suffering. It really got to me but felt better when she was dispatched. If PETA could only see what harm they are doing by trying to ban trapping. This animal was so sick and infected I wanted to take my aggression out on the fools who think trapping is a bad thing. Anyway here are the pics." Click on the pic for the full size image. This fox, with mange, was put down and removed from under a porch in the U.P. of Michigan. "I shot it under my neighbors porch. They were dying all over the place that year,in dog houses machine sheds, and on hay bales. It was common to see them rolling in the gravel on the sides of the roads trying to scratch themselves." And for those of you that still believe the PETA/HSUS propaganda, Here are a couple pics of the paw of a Red Fox that was taken in Maryland. Notice that there is no lacerations, no crush injury, and no broken bones. You can click on the pic for the full size image. |
