The R. V. Klingle - 30' Research Vessel
- Named after Mr. Gilbert Klingle, a local noted boat builder and the first person to take
underwater pictures of the Chesapeake Bay area. This is used as our
primary research vessel. |
It is equipped with a full compliment of diving
gear, along with video and photographic equipment used in taking our pictures of
underwater life. It also carries reserve batteries and a generator to
convert and supply power for the electronic equipment. |
The Miss Fitz - 25' Cabin Cruiser - One of our most
sturdy vessels, this boat is primarily used in our voyages on the
Chesapeake. It is made of fiberglass, and is diesel powered. |

The Snipe - 18' Center Console Fiberglass
Outboard - Being the fastest and easiest to transport, this vessel is used
primarily for excursions to local tributaries on and around the Chesapeake
Bay. |
This gives us a broader and wider scope than our larger vessels
can reach for our projects. |
The Gray Ghost - 15' Runabout - Although it is our
smallest and homeliest vessel, it is the most visible of the fleet.
It stands constant guard over BAYLAB, is lit at night,
making it a vital part of our operation. |
