The Luftwaffe had special issue uniforms for warm climate consisting of a "sand" colored cotton four pocket tunic, pullover long sleeve shirt and baggy trousers of the same material with fastening straps at the ankles and a large patch pocket on the left thigh. As some of our events depict battles that took place in Italy we have made an attempt to reproduce the look of Fallschirmjaegers in action there. Several vendors now offer a complete Tropical uniform and although now no longer difficult find it is still costly to purchase and so is not a required item. In actual use it was common to mix parts of the continental basic uniform with tropical items so a complete tropical impression need not be necessary. In fact a passable impression may be created by retaining the jump pants and smock with the addition of a web belt, web Y staps ( available from At The Front on our Vendor Page) and a "sand" painted belt buckle and helmet. Other common tropical items are pants unofficially "field" made from either German or Italian camo shelter material.
