2nd Fallschirmjaeger Regiment of Washington

WEAPONS PAGE 1

INDIVIDUAL WEAPONS:

One of the unique aspects of the Fallschirmjeager impression is that all members regardless of rank or duty are allowed to carry a pistol. These early paratroopers were first trained to jump with only their sidearms intending to recover their rifles from containers dropped at the same time. Unfortunately in the first combat jumps many containers were lost or "staked-out" by the enemy leaving the fallschirmjaeger to accomplish their objectives with only pistols and grenades!

True to form, our unit makes good use of our pistols, they are especially handy in thick woods and the confines of our town battles. Their eight shot magazines and semi-auto fire often puts us on par with the G.I. Garand during close fighting. We almost exclusively use blank adapted P38s (depicted above) or the less expensive P38 non-guns.

K98 & G33/40

Our basic weapon is the standard issue Mauser K98k, this 5 shot bolt action is a very reliable rifle and considered to be the "backbone" of the German forces. We also field, as a secondary standard, unit made G33/40 carbine reproductions of the type issued to both the fallschirmjaeger and mountain troops.
The 98k bayonet with frog are mandatory with either of these weapons. A basic load of 100 rounds of ammo is carried in the unique (and preferred) fallschirmjaeger bandoleer, or 30 rounds each in the also acceptable 3 cell ammo pouches.

G43

We also field the ten shot, magazine fed G43/K43 semi-automatic rifle sometimes dubbed "Hilter's Garand". These weapons greatly increase our squad firepower, and when working properly, help to keep the enemy's head down. As the G43/K43 had no provision for a bayonet a fighting knife with either belt loop or spring clip scabbard is an acceptable compliment to this weapon.

The unit has also produced excellent soft rubber copies of both the Stielhandgranate 24 (potato masher) and Eihandgranate 39 (egg grenade).
