Golden Olive Spey (Shumakov)
Tied by Ken Broadhead

Golden Olive Spey

Name

Golden Olive Spey (Shumakov)

Category Steelhead
Hook

Partridge cs10/2 heavy wire

Body Gold holographic tinsel, red dubbing
Hackle Yellow ringneck pheasant rump feather (see notes)
Wing Golden olive Arctic fox,  flash, black, teal
Head Black thread

Golden Olive Spey was tied by Ken Broadhead. You will find many more of his exceptional  flies at The Flies of Ken Broadhead.

Ken's Notes: Yuri tied this with a marabou feather sprayed with his wife's hair spray. I found this to be very difficult. 5 or 6 feathers later I figured it out but way to much to much trouble for me.

Notes: This is Ken Broadhead's rendition of the Yuri Shumakov tube fly (which see).
