Drummond

Dr Burns' Notes: ...some flies that I tied for a friend who is maternally a Drummond. These are after J. J. Hardy (1907). The Indian crow substitutes in the Red Drummond are some golden pheasant neck feathers that I tip-dyed crimson and then crimped. I prefer them to those made from ring-neck pheasant, but that's a personal preference. I just think that they look more like the real thing with the reddish-sheen from the golden pheasant. My crimping tool is not as neat as the one shown in Michael D. Radencich's Classic Salmon Fly Materials, but anyone wanting a tool could build the one that he shows. The two flies attached are not for fishing, because if they were, I'd use synthetic eyes rather than gut and I would not bother to tip-dye and crimp Indian crow substitutes.
