Tail | Hook shank weighted with lead wire first, Then apply (RED Marabou Turkey) |
Body | Apply Lureflash (GOLD Holographic Fritz) Then tie on strand of Black Chenille. Wind on gold holographic Fritz, tie off, then wind black chenille over the gold fritz, Then tie off. |
Hackle | Dyed Indian Cock Cape (Black) |
Dipper Vane | Not Fitted, but can be fitted if desired. (See Leon's Dipper Vane) |
Head | Black thread built up round (Cover with Clear Epoxy Glue) Painted Eye s, then apply another layer of epoxy glue to protect paint. |
Comments | Based on the original Zulu Pattern, variation s of adding Sparkle Fibres in the Tail Marabou can also be very effective. |
Fishing Tips | Retrieve with 1 foot pulls, allow to sink stopping on occasion to drift along the bottom. |
This pattern was originated and tied by Leon Guthrie of Galashiels, Scotland. The Dipper Vane (which see), is an invention that Leon uses to add action to some of his flies. Leon writes about this fly, "Catch anything with this one, Trust Me!"
